  • Publication number: 20190129155
Abstract: A device is provided for generating temporally offset, spatially modulated illumination regions (22, 22?) having periodic modulation patterns that are phase-shifted with respect to one another. The device has two pulsed laser sources (121, 122) that are triggerable in a manner temporally offset with respect to one another and that generate two laser beams pulsed in a temporally offset manner. Intensity modulators (16) are provided for spatially periodic intensity modulation of the laser beams perpendicular to the direction of propagation thereof. A beam superimposing device (126) combines the beam paths of the laser beams in a common beam path section and a beam shaper (20, 20?) shapes the illumination region shaping. The common beam path section is configured so that the laser beams combined by the beam superimposing device (126) are polarized differently and the intensity modulators are upstream of an optically anisotropic beam splitter (18).

  • Publication number: 20080186688
Abstract: A circuit board is mountable inside a case that houses a user interface device, such that the circuit board is proximate to a portion of an external wall of the case. The portion is situated such that when the case is oriented for the user interface device to be in communication with a user, the portion is conveniently between the circuit board and a location outside and relative to the case that is occupyable by an external device operable to communicate with the circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20030221241
Abstract: The wrist or headband described herein is of composite construction, specifically, an essentially continuous elastic band or sleeve, which is anatomically conforming in overall dimensions to the approximate wrist or headband size of a wearer; and, a moisture absorbent material, associated with at least one end of the sleeve, to wick moisture from the interface of a wearer and the sleeve into a reservoir located on the exterior surface of the sleeve. The sleeve is preferably fabricated of the same material as the foam fabric used in the fabrication of a SCUBA diver's suit, specifically, a closed cell foam. The thickness of such materials is generally uniform throughout the device and designed to provide more than adequate thermal insulation for the source of cooling energy housed within the device. The sleeve is further modified on the interior surface thereof (also “skin contact surface”) to accommodate a source of thermal energy (also “chill pack”).

  • Patent number: 6079909
Abstract: A system and method for widening a highway and supporting a sound wall is provided that includes a single row of caissons for providing the sole foundation of a breast wall and a sound wall. The caissons include a vertically-oriented network of reinforcing steel, an upper portion of which is integrated into the steel reinforcing network of a cast-in-place breast wall. The sound wall is mounted on and supported by the top ends of the caissons and serves to obstruct the transmission of sound from the highway. The vertically-oriented reinforcing members of the caissons are spaced away from the center portion of each caisson in two opposing groups in order to maximize its bending strength in a direction orthogonal to the highway, which is the primary direction in which cut earth, compacted fill material, and winds apply bending moments to the breast wall and sound wall.

  • Patent number: 5558470
Abstract: A system and method for adjustably connecting traffic barriers and pre-cast wall facing panels to the soldier beams of a pile wall is provided, which includes a connecting structure cast-in-place between the upper ends of the beam and the panels for structurally interconnecting both a traffic barrier and the upper ends of the panels to the beam. The system further includes an anchor member projecting from the upper end of the soldier beam for securing the connecting structure to the beam, as well as a depth-adjustable array of reinforcing members that are cast within the structure for accommodating variations in the distances between the beams and panels. At least one of the array of reinforcing members projects upwardly out of the connecting structure to link the traffic barrier to the connecting structure.

  • Patent number: 5356242
Abstract: A system and method for adjustably connecting pre-cast wall facing panels to the soldier beams of a tie-back or anchor wall is provided, wherein the system comprises an array of panels stacked in rows having mutually adjacent side edge portions which are spaced apart from one of the soldier beams, a connecting column cast-in-place between the beam and the adjacent side edge portions of the panels for structurally interconnecting both of the panels to the beam, and an adjustable array of reinforcing members within the column for interconnecting the adjacent side edge portions of each of the panels with the beam and for reinforcing the resulting column. The depth of the cast-in-place connecting column advantageously accommodates variations in the distances between the beams and panels. In the method of the invention, a first row of wall facing panels is stacked in front of the soldier beams, and a first section of the connecting column is cast therebetween.
