    Abstract: The invention relates to performing a transaction between a user and a server. It relates to a method that comprises setting up a call (A3-A5) between a user and the server via an exchange, and transmitting user identification data to the server. According to the invention, the identification data is transmitted in two steps: a first step (A1-A2) prior to the call being set up (A3-A5) and in which data is read from a data medium; and a second step (A6) subsequent to the call being set up (A3-A5) and in which the identification data is transmitted by the exchange to the server.
