  • Patent number: 8596978
Abstract: A wind turbine is disclosed. Various embodiments of the wind turbine have a turbine rotator assembly that, when rotated by the wind, provides a rotational input motion to a power generation unit. The turbine rotator assembly may include a central rotator bearing and an outer ring. A plurality of flexible fins are mounted in tension between the outer ring and the central rotator bearing such that the fins are able to flex when contacted by wind at certain wind speeds. The fins may be mounted at an angle and at a twisted configuration to facilitate flexing of the turbine rotator assembly in a direction that is opposite to the direction in which the wind is blowing. Various embodiments employ electrical generator units and other embodiments employ hydraulic pump and motor arrangements that are coupled to an electrical generator.

  • Patent number: 5749178
Abstract: Apparatus for protecting a plurality of electrical components. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus comprises a shell formed from an electrically conductive material. An access door is provided in the shell for selectively gaining access to the electrical components. The shell is equipped with grounding apparatus for conducting electrical current created when a lightning strike communicates therewith to a ground. The shell is also equipped with a magnetic shield for substantially shielding the plurality of electrical components from electromagnetic fields created in the shell as a result of electrical current passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4473338
Abstract: In a well such as an oil well, a timer connects a power source to the motor which drives the well pump for timed energization and de-energization periods. The timer consists of an electronic programmable timer having a stored program data processor for processing digital information and with capabilities to variably enter time program data into the processor to selectively energize and de-energize the pump motor for any desired time intervals for each day and the time intervals for each day of the week may be programmed differently. When the pump motor is provided in the form of an electric motor, a power transducer is connected to the power source energizing the motor to continually monitor line voltage and current and provide a true power output signal representative of the phase angle between the line voltage and line current.

  • Patent number: 4441561
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating, isolating and treating a section of a formation located downhole in a well bore by analyzing the formation for location of the section to be treated and isolating the section to be treated, and subjecting the isolated section with treating fluid with a single-type or straddle-type expandable packer assembly. The treating fluid is fed downhole to the packer assembly through a flexible conduit which is paid-off from a reel located above ground from a mobile unit. The radially expandable packer elements of the straddle packer assembly are independently expanded and contracted with the application of positive expanding and contracting forces applied thereto through remotely located controls above ground. The packer assembly may also include a formation sensing unit for sensing downhole fluid-bearing strata while the packer assembly is being lowered.

  • Patent number: 4377092
Abstract: A deep well pump jack having a walking beam pivotally mounted on a Samson post with sucker rods depending from one end of the walking beam and a counterbalancing weight carried by the other end of the walking beam, and a prime mover is provided to rock the walking beam up and down in operation through pumping cycles. During pumping cycles, the counterbalancing weight is moved or driven in movement relative to the walking beam such that the center of gravity of the counterbalancing weight follows a vertical pattern of movement throughout each pumping cycle wherein the center of gravity travels in a substantially straight line while traveling upward and in a line of curvature directed outwardly away from the Samson pivot while traveling downward to compensate for the varying loads placed on the prime mover during each pumping cycle.

  • Patent number: 4072929
Abstract: A computer controlled bulk storage fluid dispensing terminal for dispensing fluid, such as flammable fuels, to customer vehicles from a plurality of adjacent loading stations without the requirement of a full time attendant. A multiple digit input data entry terminal is positioned at each of the stations and is electrically connected to a central computer for coded customer identification data entry into the computer by hand manipulation by the driver of the multiple digit input. When the customer has been recognized by the computer as authorized, an indication is given that he may proceed to fill the vehicle. The computer regulates the allocation of quantity and type of fluid to be dispensed to the particular customer, monitoring the entire dispensing operation. The computer prints out fluid dispensing information on a teletype or any other type of line printer.
