Patent number: 11879743Abstract: A device for identifying a shift in a point of interest (POI). The device may receive location information of the POI, determine a geographical coordinate of the POI based on the location information and using map data, determine a routable attribute of the POI based on the geographical coordinate and using updated map data, identify a shift in the POI between the map data and the updated map data based on an inconsistency between the routable attribute and the map data, determine an aggregate score based on the routable attribute and the inconsistency between the routable attribute and the map data when the shift in the POI is identified, and cause an action to be performed based on the aggregate score.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2019Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Lear, Victor J. Rehorst, Sonya Ticku, Simon Ang, Elizabeth A. Burgess

Patent number: 11402222Abstract: A device receives, from another device, a request for navigational instructions for a vehicle. That request includes data that identifies stops for the vehicle. The device receives route restriction data that identifies route restrictions that include a set of waypoints. The device selects, by analyzing the route restriction data, particular waypoints to include in the stops. The device determines an initial route through the stops that include the particular waypoints. The device obtains fuel selection data to use to identify fuel stops. The device identifies a subset of the fuel stops that are near the initial route. The device selects a fuel stop, to include in the stops, based on at least one of: fuel data, fuel cost data, weather data, or traffic data. The device determines a final route that includes the stops, and provides, to the other device, the final route to permit the vehicle to be navigated.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2019Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Lear, Suet Fun M. Tsang, Changxiu Li, Elizabeth A. Burgess, Victor J. Rehorst

Publication number: 20210285775Abstract: A device provides, to a navigation device, original route information that includes information indicating directions from an origination to a destination, and waypoints. The device receives, from the navigation device, a request for a new route from a current location to the destination, and receives the original route information when the request is associated with an original route stored in the data structure. The device identifies a point along the original route, closest to the current location, and calculates a route from the point along the original route to the current location. The device combines the route and the original route at the point along the original route to create a new route from the current location to the destination, and provides, to the navigation device, new route information for the new route, where the new route information includes information indicating waypoints between the current location and the destination.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2021Publication date: September 16, 2021Applicant: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Victor J. REHORST, Peter J. LEAR, Weiyu LIANG

Patent number: 11015945Abstract: A device can determine route information associated with a route of a vehicle, identify a point of interest (POI) based on the route information, and identify a portion of the route that has a shortest distance to the POI. The device can determine one or more paths from the POI, and determine whether the portion of the route is included in an initial portion of a path of the one or more paths. The device can determine whether the POI is located to a right of the portion of the route, and perform one or more actions to cause the route information and information regarding the POI to be provided to a user device associated with the vehicle based on whether the portion of the route is included in the initial portion of the path, and whether the POI is located to the right of the portion of the route.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2018Date of Patent: May 25, 2021Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Lear, Victor J. Rehorst, Weiyu Liang, Elizabeth A. Burgess

Patent number: 10845207Abstract: A user device can receive boundary information that identifies a restricted region; identify one or more map boundaries of the restricted region based on the boundary information; identify traversing roads of the restricted region based on geographic information survey (GIS) information; flag the traversing roads for exclusion from route determination; receive a navigation request identifying at least one of an origin or a destination; determine a route that does not include a flagged traversing road; and provide navigation information identifying the route.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2018Date of Patent: November 24, 2020Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Elizabeth A. Patent number: 10824689Abstract: A server device can receive, from a first device related to a first subscriber of a navigation service, data relating to a point of interest (POI), and an indication to share the data. The data can include on-site information associated with the POI. The on-site information can include one or more instructions regarding arrival at or departure from the POI. The device can store the data to permit the data to be accessible to other subscribers of the navigation service. The device can receive a location search request from a second device related to a second subscriber of the navigation service. The second subscriber can be different than the first subscriber. The device can determine that the location search request corresponds to the POI. The device can perform one or more actions to cause the data relating to the POI to be provided to the second device.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 2018Date of Patent: November 3, 2020Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Peter J.
