  • Patent number: 8444294
Abstract: An apparatus for providing illumination includes a lower underlying layer that is attached to an upper surface layer. The upper surface layer includes any desired material that can be stepped on and used as the upper surface of a doormat. The underlying layer includes circuitry and wiring for conveying electrical energy from a battery to at least one light attached to the apparatus upon the activation of a sensor sufficient to illuminate the light, a portion of the upper surface layer, and a portion of the area disposed above the upper surface layer. A plurality of light emitting diodes are the preferred type of the light. An optional timer and other optional components and features are discussed. Various types of construction are described depending on whether the underlying layer is opaque or transparent or if a prior art type of doormat is to be included as a component of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7670026
Abstract: An apparatus for providing illumination includes a lower light panel that contains at least one battery and electronic control circuitry therein. A plurality of LEDS are each disposed in a corresponding plurality of recesses in the light panel. A reflective coating is preferably included in each of the recesses. A clear plastic sheet is disposed over an upper surface of the light panel. A rug is disposed over the light panel and is detachably-attached thereto. When a person steps on the rug one or more of a plurality of pressure activated switches are energized which, in turn, activates the circuitry and energizes the LEDS. The LEDS are illuminated for a first predetermined period of time that is selectable. When the first timer elapses the lights and circuitry turn off and the apparatus returns to a quiescent state until the cycle is repeated. The rug is removed from the light panel for cleaning of the rug and the plastic sheet is also removed for servicing of the light panel.

  • Patent number: 7140943
Abstract: An apparatus for containing a substance includes a container and a bobble head that is attached to the container. An opening is provided in the container to provide access to the substance. The bobble head is removed to access the opening and the substance. A first modified design includes an upper half and a lower half that are separable and, when separated, provide the opening and access to the fluid in the lower half. A second modified design includes a permanently attached bobble head and a separate opening and screw on lid. A third modified design includes a hex shaped key and a fourth modified design includes a sleeve attached to a bobble head that is adapted to fit over a pre-existing cap.

  • Patent number: 7029360
Abstract: An apparatus for containing a fluid for human consumption includes a container. A spring is attached to a screw on type of lid disposed at the top of the container. A support member of a bobble head engages a top of the spring. A hole is provided in the container that is adapted to receive a straw. The support member is attached to a head. The spring supports the head above the lid so it can bobble from side to side, twist around a center axis, or bob up and down. The head is urged downward and protrusions and recesses in the support member and lid act like gear teeth to engage with each other and permit rotating the head and lid simultaneously to either loosen or tighten the lid. A modified threaded container having a lower and upper half is also described.
