The cannula tubing is affixed to a base, which is configured to accept an input connector on the end opposing the cannula. The base is configured so that input medication from the connector flows down the cannula. The base is affixed to the patient via adhesive. The perforated cannula distributes the dose of the medication across a wider area. This has been demonstrated to increase uptake rate of some medications (reducing the time to peak absorption rate).
