  • Patent number: 11636948
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to an instrument kit tracking system that includes a housing that has tracking electronics that is contained in either a compartment or wall of the medical instrument kit or in a standalone unit that is affixed to a medical instrument kit to contain and protect an electronic device from external temperatures between 120-135° C.; where the medical instrument kit contains at least one medical instrument. The internal temperature of the instrument kit tracking system is maintained such that the electronic device contained therein is operable when the external temperature is between 120-135° C. A further layer, such as of a thickness of 1 mm, resides between the electronic device and the outer walls of the compartment or module. Access to the tracking electronics may also be selectively lockable.

  • Patent number: 5878607
Abstract: A cast saw for removing hard orthopaedic bandages, for example formed of plaster is disclosed. The cast saw is a unitary device containing a rechargeable battery pack in a removable filter form collection chamber. A shroud covers at least a portion of the saw blade and such shroud is movable by the cutting operation from the interference of the casting material as the blade is received within the casting material while cutting through such casting material. A dust channel is formed within the housing and dust and debris caused by the cutting operation is pulled through such dust channel by the forces applied by impeller rotated by an electric motor received within the housing. A pressure sensitive switch is supplied which senses an increase in force on the saw blade and increases the current supplied to the motor proportionally in order to provide additional torque to the motor.

  • Patent number: 5833639
Abstract: There is disclosed a short leg walker comprising a rigid sole and calf shell and an articulated rigid skin and dorsal shell. The shells are padded at some locations with a non-inflatable padding such as foam or a fiber padding and at other locations with an inflatable bladder and a second bladder between the inflatable bladder and the limb of the patient. The second bladder is responsive to deforming pressure exerted on it and will maintain its support of the limb when the pressure is removed.
