  • Patent number: 6910987
Abstract: An automatic transmission is specially developed for light-vehicles driven by V-Twin engines and which utilize a separate transmission housing from the engine, and where the transmission is connected with the engine output shaft by a suitable linkage. The transmission includes a main input drive shaft oriented parallel to the engine output crankshaft, and a coaxially aligned drive output shaft. The transmission contains within a gear box a ring gear, planetary gears mounted to a planetary carrier which is mounted to the output shaft, two sun gears, a pair of clutch assemblies and two braking mechanisms. A first clutch assembly includes a clutch drive coupled to the input drive shaft, and an array of clutch plate. The second other clutch assembly is used to couple or uncouple the ring gear to the input shaft for rotation therewith. A one-way clutch is engaged through the actuation of the clutch drum to engage a first ring gear.

  • Patent number: 5951434
Abstract: A transmission used as part of a drive unit to transmit power is coupled to a V6 engine drive shaft by a torque converter and includes an axially extending ring gear assembly, a sun gear positioned coaxially within part of the ring gear assembly and two planetary gear assemblies each spaced axially from the other and meshing with the sun gear and the ring gear assembly. The ring gear assembly is driven in rotation about its axis and an output drive shaft by the rotational forces of the motor output shaft and includes two different diameter annular ring gears which are each centered on and extend radially about the transmission axis. The annular ring gears have different diameters and radially inwardly extending teeth. The sun gear includes a portion axially aligned within each of the two ring gears. A clutch plate or pack, gearing or other band or pressure brake is provided to selectively permit or prevent the rotation of the sun gear about the transmission axis and relative to the output drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 3942884
Abstract: A device for the viewing of photo-images and the presentation of sound recordings corresponding to such photo-images, which device may be controlled by the user to provide substantially random access to any photo-image and the sound recording corresponding thereto, is disclosed. A modular construction of such device and its adaptability to either hand-held or projection embodiments is described. A novel tone arm system as well as a novel turntable driving mechanism, a novel disc type record unit and a novel record changing mechanism is disclosed. In addition, a novel stereoscopic system based on the use of two identical views of the field of vision is disclosed and a specific optical system is described. Finally, a method of and means for coordinating a group of photo-images and a group of sound recordings so that selection of a particular photo-image automatically selects the corresponding sound recording is disclosed.
