  • Publication number: 20200076198
Abstract: A system may include an energy reservoir controller associated with a microgrid's energy reservoir adapted to store energy (e.g., a battery to store electrical energy). A computer processor of the energy reservoir controller may receive indications of digital currency tokens from a token creation platform. At least some of the digital currency tokens may be placed into an available energy container based on an amount of energy stored in the energy reservoir. A consumer within the microgrid may submit a transaction request for energy, and it may be arranged for an amount of energy to be transferred from the energy reservoir to the consumer. Based on the amount of energy transferred to the consumer, a number of digital currency tokens may be moved from the available energy container into a used energy container. Information about the transaction request may then be recorded via a secure, distributed transaction ledger.

  • Publication number: 20180254637
Abstract: An energy management system may include a plurality of energy resource systems for exchanging electric energy therebetween. According to some embodiments, each energy resource system includes a renewable energy resource to generate electric power and a power converter to convert the electric power from one form to another form. Each energy resource system may further include a local controller having a unique identification for the energy management system to control the operation of the power converter. A cloud controller may communicate with the local controller to exchange information over a communications network. The cloud controller might, for example, establish a secure connection with the local controller after verification of the unique identification and maintain at least one database to securely store information relating to energy exchanged between the plurality of energy resource systems in the form of a virtual renewable energy currency.

  • Patent number: 9972993
Abstract: An electrical system for controlling a wind turbine is provided. The electrical system includes a first resistive element, a storage element and a controller. The first resistive element and the storage element are coupled to a DC link of the wind turbine. The controller is used for switching between the first resistive element and the storage element in response to a grid side fault condition to minimize mechanical loads induced by the grid side fault condition.

  • Publication number: 20170329307
Abstract: A processing system having at least one processor operatively coupled to at least one memory. The processor receives sensor data from the at least one sensor indicating one or more characteristics of the asset. The processor generates, updates, or maintains a digital representation that models the one or more characteristics of the asset. The processor detects a defect of the asset based at least in part on the one or more characteristics. The processor generate an output signal encoding or conveying instructions to provide a recommendation to an operator, to control the at least one robot to address the defect on the asset, or both, based on the defect and the digital representation of the asset.

  • Patent number: 9677540
Abstract: A yaw backup system is provided. The yaw backup system includes an energy storage medium for storing auxiliary power. The yaw backup system also includes a yaw controller for coordinating delivery of power from the energy storage medium to a yaw motor for controlling a yaw angle of a wind turbine during grid loss conditions. The yaw controller executes the steps of receiving wind direction signals over time from a sensor, altering a tolerance level of a wind turbine based on changes in the wind direction signals over time and controlling delivery of power to the yaw motor from the auxiliary power of the energy storage medium based on the tolerance level to control the yaw angle for reducing a load on the wind turbine induced by wind.

  • Patent number: 9473057
Abstract: A system for wind power dispatch that includes a wind farm controller for controlling operation of wind turbines in a wind farm and regulating real time power output of the wind farm. The system also includes a wind power dispatch management system for computing a difference between a predefined power output and the real time power output and dispatching a transient wind farm reserve to reduce the difference or, if the transient wind farm reserve is insufficient to reduce the difference, additionally or alternatively dispatching a storage reserve to reduce the difference.

  • Publication number: 20040094631
Abstract: A method of identifying a steam turbine includes defining a plurality of individual blocks that identify critical design features for a plurality of turbine sections, and separating each of the individual blocks with separators. Exemplary blocks are defined for, for example, turbine code type, rotational speed, maximum capability of structured design, nominal design conditions, high-pressure, intermediate-pressure and low-pressure block levels, high-pressure design type, low-pressure last stage bucket, and generator type. The identification number contains the minimum required set of criteria to identify a unique, structured turbine design. The number can be used to identify duplication as well as cost and design attributes that are significant for consistency across a power generation business.

  • Publication number: 20020099590
Abstract: A business management method integrates a complex, long cycle business into a common, concise format and set of order fulfillment metrics that provide clear status as well as predictive indicators of issues across all functional areas to all levels of management throughout an organization. The uniformity of the approach across all business functions allows for a standard comparison of the fulfillment risks and status across the entire business. The business management method utilizes statistical analysis, variation based metrics, mean based metrics, line rate analysis indicators and key quality indicators to facilitate proactive actions at the senior management level before issues become systemic and/or impact a company's ability to timely deliver products to its customers.
