  • Patent number: 6984274
Abstract: An explosive composition comprises a porous fuel and an oxidizer. The porous fuel is a solid with a structure size measuring between about 2 nm and 1000 nm and has a porosity that lies between 10% and 98%. The oxidizer is solid or liquid at room temperature and is incorporated into the pores of the porous fuel. The oxidizer is selected, in an amount of at least 50% by weight relative to a total quantity of the oxidizer, from the group consisting of hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl ammonium nitrate, organic nitro compounds or nitrates, alkali metal nitrates or earth alkali metal nitrates as well as metal nitrites, metal chlorates, metal perchlorates, metal bromates, metal iodates, metal oxides, metal peroxides, ammonium perchlorate, ammonium nitrate and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 6005314
Abstract: Systems and apparatus for integrating an air switch and a power cord into an electric motor, and methods for assembling an electric motor including an integral air switch and an integral power cord, are described. In one embodiment, an air switch and a power cord are incorporated into an electric motor. No additional removable cover is required for the switch and cord. To eliminate the motor centrifugal switch, an air switch is provided to control energization and de-energization of the motor windings. The air switch includes a snap action switch to cut-out the start winding used for ensuring that the rotor has sufficient starting torque.

  • Patent number: 5729655
Abstract: An apparatus and method of coding speech. The apparatus includes a first circuit being coupled to receive a first signal, the first signal corresponds to the speech signal. The first circuit is for generating a first set of parameters corresponding to the first frame. The apparatus includes a second circuit, being coupled to receive a second signal and the first set of parameters, the second signal corresponding to the speech signal, and the second circuit is for generating a third signal. The apparatus further includes a pulse train analyzer, being coupled to the second circuit, for generating a third match value, a third set of parameters, and a third excitation value. The apparatus further including a fourth circuit, being coupled to the second circuit, for generating a fourth match value, a fourth set of parameters, and a fourth excitation value. The apparatus further including a fifth circuit, being coupled to the third circuit and the fourth circuit, for selecting a mode corresponding to a match value.

  • Patent number: 5659659
Abstract: A speech compressor utilizing Trellis Encoding and Linear Prediction (TELP). A TELP speech compressor provides improved signal generation and search technique for a code-excited linear prediction (CELP) speech encoder. TELP is a frame oriented coding that breaks the quantized speech signals into frames of prescribed length N and each frame into subframes of prescribed length L, which are processed as dependent units utilizing an analysis-by-synthesis approach. The approach is based on constructing the best mean square linear predicting filter and searching the best exciting sequence for the filter in order to produce synthesized speech. A trellis encoder is used instead of a stochastic code book. The Q-ary analysis of a given subframe and previous excitations is proposed for a fast vector search in an adaptive code book. It simplifies the implementation of digital speech compression.
