  • Publication number: 20120265769
Abstract: A digital asset management method and system are responsive to user interactions with digital assets. Rankings are generated to reflect the value of the digital assets to a user, based in part on the access frequency and recency, and the number and types of uses of the digital assets. A storage access hierarchy is derived from the ranking, wherein higher ranked digital assets are more easily accessed than lower ranked digital assets. The digital assets can include any of digital images, audio files, and Uniform Resource Locators. The invention can distinguish between different types of uses, e.g. passive viewing or playback, file sharing, transport, and editing, wherein some types of uses imbue an asset with greater value than others. The user may assign subjective values to digital assets that can be factored into the ranking independently of usage patterns. A volatility-dampening attribute may moderate volatility in the access hierarchy.

  • Publication number: 20120173525
Abstract: An enhanced metadata structure and associated process is provided which captures and stores metadata gathered about the source and usage of a media asset or file. The source and usage metadata is integrated, such as by encoding within the enhanced media file, as the media asset is transferred and used. The integrated metadata accumulates, as a trail of source information and usage information in the enhanced media asset, and can be extracted upon arrival at a target computer system.

  • Publication number: 20110099602
Abstract: A system for managing adaptive security zones in complex business operations, comprising a rules engine adapted to receive events from a plurality of event sources and a security manager coupled to the rules engine via a data network, wherein upon receiving an event, the rules engine determines what rules, if any, are triggered by the event and, upon triggering a rule, the rules engine determines if the rule pertains to security and, if so, sends a notification message to the security manager informing it of the triggered event, and wherein the security manager, on receiving a notification message from the rules engine, automatically establishes a new security zone based at least in part on the contents of the notification message, is disclosed
