  • Publication number: 20140358324
Abstract: In one example, we describe a method and infrastructure for DSRC V2X (vehicle to infrastructure plus vehicle) system. In one example, some of connected vehicle applications require data from infrastructure road side equipment (RSE). Examples of such applications are road intersection safety application which mostly requires map and traffic signal phase data to perform the appropriate threat assessment. The examples given cover different dimensions of the above issue: (1) It provides methods of RSE of interest selection based solely on the derived relative geometric data between the host vehicle and the RSE's, in addition to some of the host vehicle data, such as heading. (2) It provides methods of RSE of interest selection when detailed map data is communicated or when some generic map data is available. (3) It provides methods of RSE of interest selection when other vehicles data is available. Other variations and cases are also given.

  • Publication number: 20140358414
Abstract: DSRC (Dedicated short range communication) is expected to play a significant role in Transportation applications for Public Safety and Traffic Management. Some of the key applications especially safety and mobility application requires an accurate representation of the road segments. Accordingly, here, in one example, we describe a method and infrastructure for DSRC V2X (vehicle to infrastructure plus vehicle) system. This presentation, e.g., adds the following improvements on the existing technologies, as some of the examples: (a) Using Speed-Profiles for identifying Intersections/mandatory-stops/Speed-limits, etc. Also, the extension of the map coverage using speed profile data. (b) Vehicular density identification for determining confidence of generated MAP. (c) Mechanisms for identifying Lane Attributes, like Lane-Width, Lane-Connections, Possible Movement states, average travel-time on the lane, etc.

  • Publication number: 20140286194
Abstract: A network switch allows defining a virtual port worldwide name (VPWWN) and associating the VPWWN with an F_port of the network switch, for use by a host bus adaptor (HBA) connecting to the network switch. Both a default and a user VPWWN may be defined, with the user VPWWN typically taking precedence over the default VPWWN. A database of VPWWN associations may be used to ensure uniqueness of the user VPWWN. Where the HBA allows dynamic assignment of WWNs, the VPWWN may be pushed to the HBA. The VPWWNs may be deleted, and moved to another port as desired.

  • Publication number: 20130280089
Abstract: A hub for a rotor of a wind turbine is disclosed. The hub includes a hollow body rotatable around a rotation axis. The hollow body includes a blade flange and defines a blade flange area surrounded by the blade flange. The hollow body further includes a main shaft flange defining a first end, and a second end opposite the first end. The hub further includes a stiffening web extending within the blade flange area and defining a web plane. A side profile of the web plane extends from the first end to the second end is oriented at a cone angle to the rotation axis.

  • Publication number: 20130236311
Abstract: A wind turbine including a nacelle and a rotor hub is disclosed. The nacelle may extend between a hub end and an aft end and may define a nacelle shaft opening and a nacelle access port at the hub end. The rotor hub may extend between a first end and a second end, with the second end being disposed adjacent to the hub end of the nacelle. The rotor hub may also define a hub shaft opening at the second end and a hub access port generally adjacent to the hub shaft opening. In addition, the wind turbine may include an access bridge configured to extend between the nacelle and the rotor hub so as to provide access between the nacelle access port and the hub access port.

  • Publication number: 20120099443
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for mapping all possible paths between a source node and a destination node. During operation, the system receives a management frame, determines all possible next-hop nodes based on a destination address carried in the payload of the management frame. The system then selects one of the next-hop nodes, and modifies payload of the received management frame to include information associated with the next-hop nodes and the selected next-hop node. The system then forwards the modified data frame to the selected next-hop node.

  • Patent number: 7698347
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for reducing the size of one or more keys encoded into a link to a target resource. The method of one embodiment comprises receiving a request for a target resource, encoding a link to the target resource with one or more key/value pairs and selecting a given key/value pair from among the one or more key/value pairs to identify a key. The key is located in a key map to identify a substitute key, which replaces the key in the link.

  • Patent number: 7603801
Abstract: A garment de-wrinkling device (1) comprises an enclosure (10) for moistening garments (20). An ironing board (40) and an adjacent standby area (41), which are both permeable to steam, are arranged on top of the enclosure (10). During operation of the device (1), the ironing board (40) and a steam iron (30) are used to iron garments (20) which have first been moistened inside the enclosure (10). In the process, steam released by the iron (30) penetrates the garments (20) and enters the enclosure (10) through the ironing board (40). In this way, both the garments (20) on the ironing board (40) and those inside the enclosure (10) are treated by means of steam that is released by the iron (30), and steam is used in an efficient manner. A pressed look is obtained in that the garments (20) are subjected to a moistening process and a subsequent steam ironing process.

  • Patent number: 6396932
Abstract: A system for controlling noise for a sound receiving device directs noise towards the sound-receiving back side of a bi-directional microphone and directs the user's voice away from the back side. The bi-directional microphone is electrically connected to plug adapted for mating with an external microphone input jack of the sound receiving device. A resistor is connected in series with the bi-directional microphone and operates to attenuate the detected sound signal of the bi-directional microphone in order to overcome signal enhancement expedients of the sound receiving device, such as compression and clipping due to for example automatic gain control.

  • Patent number: 6285772
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the cancellation of ambient noise that impinges upon the front surface of a pressure differential microphone means. The apparatus utilizes one or more curved surfaces that act as ambient noise waveform reflectors. The reflectors cause ambient noise to impinge on the back surface of the microphone. In addition, the reflectors deflect a speaker's voice which is directed toward the front surface of the microphone to be deflected away from the back surface of the microphone.
