  • Publication number: 20250080683
Abstract: A computationally efficient way is provided to enable background adjustment based on real time, automatic background detection. In one form, the real time detected paper white is used to dynamically adjust 1D LUTs that map the input pixel values before accessing a 3D LUT that stores the weights between the original input pixel value and white (e.g., 255, 128, 128 in L*a*b*). The more complex calculation of generating coefficients in the 3D LUT is made independent of the paper white point. In one form, the white point is calculated based on the histogram of the image collected from the lead edge or the full page.

  • Patent number: 12149663
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for detecting one or more security patterns in a document submitted at a multi-function device. According to the disclosure the document is received at the multi-function device, wherein the document includes at least textual content. Thereafter, a pre-defined operation is performed to detect edges of the at least textual content. Once detected, one or more text edges are filtered based on one or more templates. Further, based on the one or more templates, shape and color of the filtered one or more text edges are analyzed, and accordingly, the presence of the one or more security patterns is ascertained in the submitted document at the multi-function device.

  • Patent number: 11954931
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for detecting tampering of an infrared (IR) security mark in a document. The method includes receiving the document including the IR security mark, wherein the IR security mark further includes one or more security texts and/or images. The document is scanned to generate scanned data. A portion of the scanned data including the IR security mark is segmented into a plurality of blocks such as blocks of size 32*32. Thereafter, a ratio of white to black pixels is calculated for each block. The calculated ratio is compared with a known threshold for each block. Upon comparison, the IR security mark is detected as a tampered security mark.

  • Patent number: 11652950
Abstract: The disclosure discloses methods and systems for handling drifting of colors in printing. The method includes receiving a document including the image for printing, the image includes one or more gray and non-gray portions. An input from a user to selectively adjust the color of the gray portions of the image is received. The gray portions of the image are identified. Then, color values associated with the identified gray portions of the image are determined. Based on the user input, the determined color values associated with the gray portions of the image are selectively adjusted, without affecting non-gray color portions of the image to generate an updated image. The updated image is printed and the printed image includes adjusted color for the gray portions of the image such that gray color in the printed image is consistent with gray color of the image in the document.

  • Patent number: 11128782
Abstract: A method for detecting background color of a scanned document uses dynamic weights to adjust components of the L*a*b* color space. In accordance with one aspect of the disclosure, the L*a*b* values belonging to pixels within a block are applied to a series of thresholds. In response to the L*a*b* values meeting the thresholds, a given color pixel within the block is reclassified as being monochromatic. The weight values are dynamically updated based on at least one of the L*a*b* values of the given pixel. The thresholding is repeated for remaining pixels in the document. Using the classified pixels, an output document is generated where the background pixels are monochromatic. The output document is transmitted to a display device in communication with the server computer.

  • Publication number: 20210112176
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems for generating a mixed raster content (MRC) format file for a single background color image document. The method includes receiving an input document at an image capturing device. The input document is segmented into an image layer and a text layer. Then, image content in the image layer is determined. Upon an affirmative determination, a new image layer is generated by adding the determined image content to a white background image layer using a morphological operation. The text layer and the new image layer is compressed using respective compression schemes. The compressed text layer and the new image layer are integrated to generate image data in the MRC file format. The generated image data is stored in a memory device.

  • Patent number: 10602019
Abstract: Examples of systems and methods for enhancing image quality for documents with highlighted portions are described. A highlighted portion from a received input is detected. The highlighted portion is automatically segmented as a text layer and the remaining portion is further segmented as a separate text layer and an image layer. A resolution is assigned to the highlighted portion, wherein the resolution assigned to the highlighted portion is greater than the respective resolution for the text layer and the image layer, to improve quality of the highlighted portion. The text layer corresponding to the highlighted portion and the separate text layer and the image layer are integrated together to generate a scanned document in a Mixed Raster Content (MRC) file format.

  • Patent number: 10341671
Abstract: An image compression method includes compressing an input image with first and second compression methods to generate first and second (e.g., lossless and lossy) compressed images. First and second residual layers are generated, based on a difference between the first and second compressed images. Connected components in the residual layers are identified. Each connected component includes a group of one or more pixels that, when mapped to the second compressed image is connected, in first and second directions, to pixels in the second compressed image. A compressed image is generated, which includes, for a connected component identified in the first residual layer, removing corresponding pixels from the second compressed image, and for a connected component identified in the second residual layer, adding corresponding pixels to the second compressed image. The system and method can thus provide file size savings associated with lossy compression while avoiding character replacement.

  • Patent number: 9898693
Abstract: An electronic image in a first color space, used by image acquisition devices, is obtained and converted into a second color space with a larger gamut, to produce a second color space image. Corrections are made to the second color space image to produce a corrected image, without performing background suppression. The corrected image is converted into a third color space, used by printing devices, to produce a third color space image, and this process of converting the corrected image into the third color space includes performing background suppression. This process of converting the corrected image into the third color space samples nodes of the second color space values, classifies the nodes as background nodes or non-background nodes, multiplies the second color space values of the background nodes by a percentage less than 100%, and after multiplying, interpolates values between the nodes.

  • Publication number: 20170208185
Abstract: An electronic document image of a document is captured using a camera of a handheld device. A user interface of the handheld device displays an instruction to place the handheld device on the document and to change the magnification of the electronic document image on the user interface until the electronic document image and the document are the same size. The handheld device automatically determines the original size of the document based on the magnification that made the electronic document image and the document the same size when the handheld device was on the document. • Patent number: 9681023
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments illustrate an image processing method and system for classification of halftone frequencies. Pixel values of a first pixel block in a binary image are converted into first pixel values. A second pixel block comprising second pixel values is generated, based on pixel shifting in the first pixel block by a pre-determined count. A frequency value for a pixel-of-interest in the first pixel block is determined, based on a count of a pre-specified type of third pixel values. Other plurality of frequency values for other pixels-of-interest in other plurality of first pixel blocks are estimated when a mode value, corresponding to a plurality of frequency values of pixels-of-interest in a plurality of first pixel blocks, exceeds a pre-determined threshold mode value. Based on the determined plurality of frequency values, one or more image processing operations on the binary image are performed.
