  • Patent number: 4626965
Abstract: Two embodiments for an illumination system for a keyboard. One embodiment includes a channel located longitudinally between a visual display screen and its lower keyboard. An illuminator is mounted longitudinally in the channel so that light emitted is directed only to the keyboard and the work surface, avoiding illuminating the screen. The other embodiment includes a free standing keyboard illuminator including a housing sized to span a keyboard. The housing includes two contiguous, longitudinal sections with the first front section including a light source with a diverter to shed light only on the keyboard. The second back section includes a counterbalancing weight in relationship with the first section.

  • Patent number: 4544453
Abstract: An improved method of stripping unreacted alkylene glycol monoalkyl ethers and unreacted monocarboxylic or halogenated monocarboxylic acids from a mixture containing the monocarboxylic acid ester prepared therefrom by acid catalyzed esterification without any significant loss of the product ester. The method involves the injection of water into the distillate during the stripping and is particularly suitable for the recovery of propylene glycol monomethyl ether and acetic acid from esterification reaction mixtures containing a predominate amount of product propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate. The process allows for removal and recovery or recycle of the ether and acid and the preparation of a higher purity product ester.

  • Patent number: 4433173
Abstract: Purification of acetophenone containing difficultly separable impurities by extractive distillation with a solvent selected from the group consisting of oligomers of 1,2-glycols, said oligomers having from 4 to 9 carbon atoms per molecule.

  • Patent number: 4321231
Abstract: A process is provided for decreasing the rate of corrosion of titanium by a corrosive aqueous media containing dissolved acidic moieties in contact therewith at an elevated temperature in the substantial absence of molecular oxygen which comprises introducing into said corrosive aqueous medium at least one soluble tellurium or selenium compound or mixtures thereof as corrosion inhibitor, said corrosion inhibitor being introduced in an amount sufficient to provide at least about 1.times.10.sup.-6 gram-atoms of dissolved tellurium or selenium values per gram-mole of total acidic moieties in the corrosive aqueous medium.

  • Patent number: 4073876
Abstract: In the preparation of glycol esters by the oxidation of an olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising tellurium, wherein the accumulation of foreign metals in association with the tellurium catalyst component has an adverse effect upon the reaction, such foreign metals are maintained at low levels while the tellurium catalyst values are recovered for recycling in high yield by purging a portion of a high-boiling residual fraction produced in the distillation treatment of the reaction mixture and treating the purged portion with water and/or an aqueous alkaline solution.
