  • Publication number: 20170012439
Abstract: A plurality of generator sets, or gensets, each including an electrical generator operatively associated with a prime mover, are arranged in parallel to generate electrical power for an isolated electrical load. To account for fuel efficiency, emissions considerations or similar consideration associated with the prime movers, an asymmetric load sharing method may be used to regulate operation of the plurality of gensets. A control strategy is configured to allocated real power demands of the electrical load among the plurality of gensets in accordance with the asymmetric load sharing method. The control strategy may account for the reactive power portions of the electrical load in addition to the real power portions.

  • Publication number: 20160356270
Abstract: A monitoring system for a fluid pump having a fluid end and a power end is provided. The monitoring system includes an inlet pressure sensor attached to an inlet manifold of the fluid end. The inlet pressure sensor generates a signal indicative of an inlet pressure of a fluid being supplied to the fluid end. The monitoring system includes a discharge pressure sensor attached to the fluid end. The discharge pressure sensor generates a signal indicative of a discharge pressure of the fluid exiting the fluid end. The monitoring system includes at least one accelerometer attached to the fluid end. The accelerometer generates a signal indicative of vibrational data of the fluid pump. The monitoring system includes a controller which receives signals from the inlet pressure sensor, the discharge pressure sensor and the accelerometer and determines a possible failure mode of the fluid pump.

  • Publication number: 20160178686
Abstract: A source ID generation system for an energy storage system of a virtual spinning reserve coupled to power generator set includes at least one ultracapacitor having a low voltage side and a high voltage side. Each of the high voltage side and the low voltage side of the ultracapacitor includes a positive terminal, a negative terminal, a resistor input terminal, and a resistor output terminal. The source ID generation system further includes a resistor that is connected between the resistor input terminal and the resistor output terminal of the ultracapacitor. A source ID of the ultracapacitor is generated based on a voltage between the resistor input terminal and the negative terminal at the low voltage side of the ultracapacitor.

  • Publication number: 20160094085
Abstract: A hybrid energy system including a controller that is coupled to at least one generator set and to at least one energy storage device. The controller is configured to cause the at least one generator set to operate at a first operational speed and a second operational speed in response to a change in the load. The controller receives notice that the at least one energy storage device is providing energy to the load and, in response thereto, to changes the amount of energy that the at least one generator set is providing to the load by causing the at least one generator set to operate at a third operational speed.
