Patent number: 11922195Abstract: Some embodiments support embedding of a notebooks software component in a surrounding host application, thereby promoting consistency of notebook user interfaces and user experiences between different kinds of applications. For instance, the notebook access added to an integrated development environment (IDE) may be aesthetically consistent with the notebook access added to a business analytics tool from the same vendor as the IDE. Departures from the aesthetic are still supported, e.g., a notebook access provided in a video gaming environment to teach gamers programming skills may have the same aesthetic as the simulated world of the video game, rather than an IDE aesthetic or an enterprise software aesthetic. Direct integration or proxied integration architectures may be used. Efficiencies may be gained by distinguishing between notebook viewing, editing, and executing operations, and providing more computationally expensive resources only as needed for the notebook access being performed.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2021Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: John Francis Lam, Safia Abdalla, Shibani Raj Basava, Dinesh Chandnani, Zhu Chen, Kwangje Cho, Ram Kumar Donthula, Katherine Kampf, Daniel Moth, Andrew Christopher Neil, Vaishnavi Sannidhanam, Barry Manh Tu, Vijaya Krishna Upadya, Dileep Yavanmandha

Publication number: 20230419943Abstract: Devices, methods, systems, and media for selectively cancelling sounds at a listener's location are described. Sound sources are identified in the listener's environment using microphones and/or remote devices associated with specific sound sources. A user is presented with information identifying the sound sources, including spatial information, and prompting the user to select one or more of the sound sources. After the user designates a sound source as noise, microphones are used to monitor for sound originating from the designated sound source, and the audio information captured by the microphones is processed to generate an anti-noise signal presented to the listener to cancel sounds originating from the selected sound source. A user may designate multiple sound sources as noise and leave other sound sources unfiltered. The techniques may be used in single-listener and multi-listener applications, and in listening and speaking applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2023Publication date: December 28, 2023Inventors: Qiang XU, Vijaya Krishna MULPURI, Xuan ZHOU

Patent number: 11474598Abstract: Systems and method for low-power gaze prediction on touch-enabled electronic devices using touch interactions are provided. The method includes receiving an input touch interaction applied to a touch interaction area on a touchscreen display of a touch-enabled device and obtaining, by a gaze prediction module, a predicted gazing area on the touchscreen display based on the input touch interaction. A touch-enabled device has a processor, a touchscreen display and memory storing instructions to carry out the method. The gaze prediction module may utilize a model based on Bayesian inference or convolutional neural networks. Advantageously, gaze prediction is achieved without the use of image-capturing devices and with low power consumption. This can be used to develop intelligent hands-free interactions and personalized recommendation systems.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2021Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD.Inventors: Vijaya Krishna Mulpuri, Qiang Xu, Wei Li, Chenhe Li, Xiaoliang Li
