  • Patent number: 9088982
Abstract: Access to an access point is restricted to a plurality of client devices having wireless connections with the access point. The wireless connections conform to a wireless networking protocol. A first data transmission rate is the lowest data transmission rate defined by the wireless networking protocol. It is determined that a second data transmission rate is used between a first client device of the plurality of client devices and the access point. The second data transmission rate is the lowest data transmission rate used by the plurality of client devices. The second data transmission rate is greater than the first data transmission rate. Responsive to said determining that the second data transmission rate is the lowest data transmission rate used by the plurality of client devices, a beacon frame data transmission rate is set to the second data transmission rate.

  • Patent number: 8744478
Abstract: Methods and mobile handsets provide applications with access to locality identifier information heretofore not shared with applications. By accessing the locality identifier from memory, applications can provide location-specific services, such as alarms and location-specific themes. The locality identifier can be compared to a criteria table in memory to determine if an application should be notified or activated. The criteria table may include time and date criteria, so application notification can depend upon time, date and location information.

  • Patent number: 8700063
Abstract: Implementations relate to systems and methods for generating called device location based on cell sector information for the called mobile device. Implementations relate to platforms and techniques relate in which a calling device can call a called device, such as a cellular telephone or network-enabled media player. The network can locate the called device using a paging process transmitted via the mobile switch(es) and associated base station(s) of the called device service provider. The called device can respond to the paging process by transmitting a message. The cell sector location of the base station to which the called device responds can be captured as the current location of the called device. The network can report the location of the called device to the calling device using different message formats, including SMS or USSD messages.

  • Patent number: 8548509
Abstract: A method of automatically generating text messages in response to a telephone call is disclosed and may include receiving an incoming telephone call at a text message capable device from a calling device, determining whether a text message engine within the text message capable device is enabled, automatically generating a text message when the text message engine is enabled and transmitting the text message to the calling device.

  • Patent number: 8290476
Abstract: Methods and devices enable scheduling the transmission of messages based upon date, time and/or location transmission criteria. Text and multimedia messages may be drafted and scheduled for automatic transmission at a later time and date or when the mobile device is in a particular location. Alternatively, methods and systems enable the message to be sent automatically from a remote server.
