  • Patent number: 11002202
Abstract: An engine system includes an air handling control unit which controls a plurality of air handling actuators responsible for maintaining flow of air and exhaust gas within the engine system. The engine system has a plurality of sensors whose sensor signals at least partially define a current state of the engine system. The air handling control unit includes a controller which controls the air handling actuators of the engine system as well as a processing unit coupled to the sensors and the controller. The processing unit includes an agent which learns a policy function that is trained to process the current state, determines a control signal to send to the controller by using the policy function after receiving the current state as an input, and outputs the control signal to the controller. Then, the agent receives a next state and a reward value from the processing unit and updates the policy function using a policy evaluation algorithm and a policy improvement algorithm based on the received reward value.

  • Patent number: 10746123
Abstract: An engine system includes an air handling and fuel system whose states are managed by a reference managing unit. The engine system has a plurality of sensors whose sensor signals at least partially define a current state of the engine system. The reference managing unit includes a controller which controls the air handling and fuel system of the engine system as well as a processing unit coupled to the sensors and the controller. The processing unit includes an agent which learns a policy function that is trained to process the current state, determines air handling references and fuel system references by using the policy function after receiving the current state as an input, and outputs the air handling references and fuel system references to the controller. Then, the agent receives a next state and a reward value from the processing unit and updates the policy function using a policy evaluation algorithm and a policy improvement algorithm based on the received reward value.

  • Patent number: 8786347
Abstract: In an embodiment, a delay circuit includes a ring oscillator circuit and a counter circuit. The ring oscillator circuit includes a delay chain having delay elements and configured to generate one of more clock cycles of an oscillator clock signal in response to a clock cycle of a clock signal. The counter circuit includes two counters that are configured to store a count state corresponding to a number of clock cycles of the oscillator clock signal during a single clock cycle of the clock signal. A first buffer is configured to store the number of clock cycles of the oscillator clock signal. The delay circuit includes a buffer to store a bit pattern corresponding to a number of delay elements traversed in a partial clock cycle of the oscillator clock signal in response to the clock cycle of the clock signal based on outputs of the plurality of delay elements.

  • Patent number: 8686777
Abstract: Various embodiments of circuits and methods for enabling a slew rate programmability and compensation of input/output circuits are provided. The circuit includes a delay code generation circuit and at least one input/output (I/O) circuit. The delay code generation circuit is configured to receive a clock signal and a delay factor and generate a compensated delay code based on the clock signal or a combination of the delay factor and the clock signal. The I/O circuit includes a plurality of delay lines associated, integrated or communicatively associated with the delay code generation circuit and is configured to program the plurality of delay lines so as to generate a predetermined delay corresponding to the compensated delay code in order to achieve a predetermined slew rate of the I/O circuit.

  • Patent number: 8179160
Abstract: An integrated circuit (IC) includes an input/output (I/O) circuit supporting high-speed operation and multiple I/O logic-level swings. The I/O circuit includes a first output signal chain to generate outputs with a first logic level swing, and a second output signal chain to generate outputs with a second logic level swing. The outputs of the first output signal chain and the second output signal chain are connected to a same output pad of the IC. Transistors in the first output signal chain and the second output signal chain are fabricated using corresponding gate oxide characteristics. The second output signal chain includes protection circuitry to prevent transistors in the second output signal chain from being subjected to voltage stresses beyond a safe limit. An input circuit in the I/O circuit similarly includes multiple input signal chains to enable reception of input signals of different logic-level swings from a same input pad.
