  • Publication number: 20230071762
Abstract: A coated glass article provides a visible light reflecting, solar control glazing with a low emittance, a low solar heat gain coefficient, and a low shading coefficient that can significantly improve energy costs in buildings and homes while providing a desirable neutral color for, at least, film side reflection. The low emittance characteristic of the 5 glazing would minimize any indirect heat gain from absorption.

  • Publication number: 20220204397
Abstract: A method of reducing the emissivity of a coated glass article includes the following steps in sequence: (a) forming a coated glass article, the coated glass article comprising a glass substrate and a coating formed on the glass substrate, the coating having a first layer deposited over the glass substrate and a second layer, the second layer being provided between the first layer and the glass substrate, wherein the coated glass article exhibits a first emissivity; and (b) heating the coated glass article in an environment set to a predetermined temperature and for a predetermined period of time. After step (b), the coated glass article exhibits a second emissivity, the second emissivity being less than the first emissivity.

  • Patent number: 10526243
Abstract: Bird collisions with windows or other glazings are minimized or prevented with a glazing comprising as least one substrate with a UV reflectance coating deposited over the substrate in a patterned arrangement comprised of a plurality of stripes, and each of the plurality of stripes has a thickness that changes by 10 nm or less over every 1 mm in width. Such an arrangement of stripes having soft edges are less apparent, and thus more aesthetically pleasing, when compared with a similar arrangement of stripes formed with hard edges, while providing an effective deterrent to bird collisions. The glazing may also be utilized as part of a laminated glazing or insulated glazing unit. A method of manufacturing the glazing is also provided.
