    Abstract: The valve tray for mass-exchange apparatus is essentially a baseplate with holes for the gas stream to pass, which holes are adapted to be shut up with valves. The valves have a seating plate protruding on one side beyond the hole being shut up, said seating plate being so curved as to have a cylindrical cross-sectional shape, with the bulging portion facing the tray baseplate so as to ensure that the initial phase of valve opening occurs by way of the seating plate rolling over the baseplate.
