    Abstract: A tuyere device for introduction of gaseous media under a liquid metal layer comprises a nest block made of refractory material provided with a sleeve incorporated therein, Coaxial metal tubes with at least one central channel and at least one annular channel which are arranged on the side thereof for entering a liquid metal and separately connected to inlets for supplying gaseous media to the metal. The coaxial tubes consist of two sections having different diameters. The first section has a smaller diameter and is used for supplying the gaseous media to the liquid metal. The second section has a larger diameter and is connected to the inlets for supplying gaseous media to the channels of the first section. The second section is also provided with an additional internal tube. The internal tube of the first section is closed on the both ends and filled with a refractory material. The invention provides a possibility to exclude metal break through the operating channels.

    Abstract: A electrode and method for periodic elongation of the electrode of an electric arc furnace, includes screwing to the electrode column, a new electrode and a nipple with a longitudinal hole and a metal rod therein. The rod melts at working temperatures of the furnace and fills cavities in the joint between the electrodes and nipple, as well as partially filling an additional cavity in the body of the electrode. A gas mixture from the additional cavity is free of liquid metal being drawn to the working area of the furnace through the holes in the body of the electrode. The electrode is made with additional cavities, placed along the central axis in the bottom of the threaded sockets, the cavities having different diameters and depths and one of them being connected to the external surface of the electrode by holes.

The method includes screwing on the electrode column of an earlier prepared new electrode and a nipple with a longitudinal through hole with a metal rod in it, for example made of aluminium or copper, which is melted under the working temperatures of the electrode column with filling up cavities in the joint “electrodes-nipple”, as well as with partial filling of the additional cavity in the body of the electrode, the gas mixture from the space of the additional cavity free of liquid metal being drawn to the working area of the furnace through provided holes in the body of the said electrode.
