Abstract: A method and implementing teleconferencing system for use within voice and/or video teleconferencing arrangements, includes means by which conference content is recorded and subsequently made available to participants who may become disconnected from the teleconference while it is still in session. Upon reconnection to the teleconference, a participant has an option to play back the missed portion of the teleconference at various speeds until the recording has become synchronized with the real time teleconference. The participant may also choose to rejoin the real time teleconference immediately upon reconnection and access the missed but recorded portion of the teleconference at a later time. In different embodiments, the call-back to a disconnected participant and the recording of missed teleconference content are accomplished either at the telephone company or at a teleconference center.

Abstract: A method and system are provided in which a user is enabled to record, for example, a song or other radio and/or video content, on demand, and to account for and process appropriate payment for the use of the recorded content. The recorded material is saved and indexed by title and is retrievable for subsequent review, tabulation and/or playing at the user's convenience. In one example, a user is enabled to record received media content by pressing a single “ADD” button at any time while a favorite song is being received and played. The song then being played together with the title of the song or video presentation are then saved to memory for subsequent retrieval and playing. The received content is accounted for and tabulated and a payment for the use of the recorded song is processed by the user in accordance with a predetermined payment schedule.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for determining the usage of an electronic document are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for determining the aggregate usage for an electronic document received from one or more users are disclosed. Embodiments include receiving from one or more users an indication of their usage of the electronic document, aggregating the usage indications received, and creating document utilization information for the electronic document. Further embodiments include transmitting the document utilization information to the one or more users. Other embodiments include displaying to the user an indication of the document utilization information. Electronic documents may be in any type of format.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for determining and aggregating electronic document segment usage information from different versions of a document are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for determining the aggregate segment usage for an electronic document received from one or more users are disclosed. Embodiments include receiving from one or more users an indication of their usage of segments of different versions of the electronic document, aggregating the segment usage indications received, and creating document utilization information for the electronic document. Further embodiments include transmitting the document utilization information to one or more users. Other embodiments include displaying to the user an electronic document and indications of the document utilization information. Electronic documents may be in PDF format, HTML format, etc.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method and apparatus for indicating a parameter of a transmitted fluid. One embodiment of the invention comprises a fluid source operatively coupled to a conduit for transmitting a fluid from the fluid source. In addition, a sensor detects a parameter of the fluid, such as the percent oxygen content of the fluid. In response to the sensor detecting the parameter of the fluid, an indicator illuminates a portion of the conduit if a predetermined condition, such as a minimum percent oxygen content of the fluid, is satisfied.

Abstract: A brick apparatus for use with a mobile computer includes a chassis having a connection panel and means for attaching the connection panel to a connection panel of the mobile computer. A power transformer is located within the chassis to produce a DC signal from an AC input. A retractable power cord of the brick is connected at one end to the transformer and connectable at a second end to an AC outlet. A DC power pin connected to the DC signal of the power transformer is positioned to engage a DC power jack of the mobile computer when the apparatus is attached to the mobile computer panel. The apparatus may further include a retractable locking cable and retractable network connections. The apparatus may include pass through connectors to provide external access to connectors of the mobile computer rear panel and a battery to provide power to the mobile computer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for expiring a device after a predetermined time period has elapsed. A device, which contains its own internal time cell, is designed to stop working or self-destruct after a predetermined time period has expired. The device uses its own time cell so that the elapsed time period is not altered through an external time source. After the predetermined time period has elapsed, the device or a component of the device self-destructs when connected to a power source.

Abstract: A system manipulates molecules using a set of proximal probes such as those used in atomic force microscopes. An electrostatic pattern is placed on a set of proximal probes such that each proximal probe may exert an electrostatic force. A molecule is captured using those electrostatic forces, after which the molecule can be manipulated while the molecule remains captured by the proximal probes. The electrostatic pattern can be modified such that the molecule moves and/or rotates over the set of proximal probes while the molecule remains captured by the set of proximal probes. The electrostatic pattern can be used to bend or split the molecule while the molecule remains captured by the set of proximal probes, thereby allowing the system to engage the molecule in chemical reactions, e.g., to act as a synthetic catalyst or a synthetic enzyme.

Abstract: A method for providing a location of products to a customer in a retail environment. A product locator unit is attached to a shopping aid utilized within the retail environment. The product locator unit has an access point for entering a customer ID, a signalling mechanism for alerting the customer to a location of a desired product, and a program algorithm for correctly identifying the desired product. A user specifies a desired product which has been linked to the user's customer ID. A signal is transmitted with the product information and location within the retail environment. The signal is received by the product locator unit and the products are compared to the desired products to determine a match and subsequent location of said desired products. The customer is then alerted to the location of the desired product via the signalling mechanism.

Abstract: The present invention provides for a method for software development. A first computer program code written in a programming language is received for analysis. The first computer program code is analyzed for at least a programming error. If at least one programming error is found, correction suggestions are generated based on the detected programming error. The correction suggestions are displayed to a user for input from the user. The first computer program code is modified in response to the user input.

Abstract: A method, computer program product, and a data processing system for recognizing and correcting dyslexia-related spelling errors is provided. A word is received for evaluation of a dyslexia-related misspelling. The received word is compared with a plurality of dyslexia variants, and a match between the received word and a dyslexia variant is identified. An error rate at which dyslexia-related misspelled words are received is compared with a threshold, and the read word is evaluated as one of a correctly spelled word and a dyslexia-related misspelling of a word.

Abstract: The present invention allows the viewer of a document to select certain portions of an encrypted document for decryption and optionally re-encryption while other portions of the document remain encrypted or as originally created. In this decryption process, the user would use a standard word processing editor technique to highlight (or swipe) portions of a document that the user desires to decrypt. The highlighted area would then be ‘tagged’ with a surrounding attribute indicating that the highlighted area is to be decrypted. This process is similar to the existing word processor capability to highlight areas on a document and then assign rich text attributes, such as BOLD, ITALICS, etc., to those areas.

Abstract: A method and system for balancing server work load for cellular phone client-proxy applications in an environment where the clients change position within a given geographic area is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of mapping, monitoring, automatically re-mapping the system when required, updating a map address book, and updating a client address book. The system has a mapping system and a communication system connected to a plurality of servers, proxy servers and applications by an internal network. The proxy servers are connected to a plurality of clients by the Internet. If a threshold is exceeded, the monitoring program sends a message to a mapping program. Upon receipt of the message, the mapping program uses a rules engine to calculate a new map graph to remove load from an overloaded server (or servers) and to adjust communication requirements for data by reconfiguring partitions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for multi-source, multi-destination data transfers that include identifying a plurality of destination points having destination contexts in one or more destination objects; selecting source content for transfer; displaying destination contexts for the destination points; and directing source content to at least one destination point in dependence upon the displayed destination contexts. In typical embodiments, identifying destination points includes recording each identified destination point and storing in association with each recorded destination point a copy of a destination context for each recorded destination point.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed that allows a participant in a conference call to receive conference call roster information at a telephone display unit, at a computer display or at both types of display. The conference call information is updated during the call and includes identification of the speaker during a conference call. The conference callers are connected together and identified either by standard caller identification or by other identification provided by the operator. The conference callers' identifications are then transmitted in two ways. First, a coded signal is sent over the telephone connection to a telephone display unit. Second, an information packet is transmitted over the Internet to a conference call participant's computer. A server computer monitors the conference call and the identification of parties involved is updated and parties are added or disconnected. The speaking party is identified in one of two ways.

Abstract: A fast provisioning unit is disclosed that contains a basic unit, a duplicating unit and a control unit. The basic unit has a production computer and two or more hard drives each connected to the production computer by a first switch. The duplicating unit has a duplicator that is connected to an image disk and to a second switch. The second switch is connected to the hard drives of the basic unit. The control unit has a computer connected to the first switch, the second switch and the duplicator. The first switch permits the hard drives to be connected or disconnected from the production computer by the control computer pursuant to instructions from control software.

Abstract: The present invention allows the user (author or creator) of a document to specify that certain portions of a document be selected for encryption while other portions of the document remain displayed as created. In addition, each encrypted section could have multiple encryption keys such that some viewers can review certain parts of the document while other viewers will not have that same access. The user could employ a standard word processing editor technique to highlight (or swipe) portions of a document that the user desires to be encrypted. The highlighted portion would then be ‘tagged’ with a surrounding attribute indicating to the word processor that this highlighted portion of the document is to be encrypted. The highlighted sections would also have encryption keys associated with the highlighted and encrypted section. Any one of the encryption keys for that section would decrypt that section. With proper authorization, any encrypted portion of a document would be displayed as part of the document.

Abstract: A method and implementing system are provided for enabling the carrying of a portable computer or similar electronic device along with one or more accessory devices in a single package which uses an accessory device to form a handle by which the electronic device may be carried. In one example, an AC power adapter cord is embedded within a carrying strap and the computer is designed to use attachment devices for securing the carrying strap around the computer casing. The carrying strap is also used to form a handle for carrying the portable computer and the AC power adapter cord together as a single package. In another embodiment, the carrying strap is “U” shaped and comprised of a series of sections to fit snugly around the outside edge of a laptop computer. In another example, a computer security cable is used in a similar manner to form a handle for carrying the computer together with the security cable.
