Abstract: A softphone application is provided that facilitates device switching between devices twinned therewith. In an aspect, a first device employing the softphone application generates a request to switch a media session between a second device and a third device to be between the first device and the third device and the softphone application sends, the request to an application server device associated with a cellular service provider identity. The request comprises a first identifier for the first device, a second identifier for the second device, and a device switch indicator. The request is configured to initiate a switch of the media session to being between the first device and the third device based on a determination that the first device and the second device are associated with a common mobile subscriber identity registered for an account associated with the cellular service provider identity.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, generating a tone during first communications with another communication device, providing the tone to a gateway to cause the gateway to transmit a re-invite message without the gateway providing the tone to the other communication device, receiving the re-invite message where the re-invite message includes a request for a higher bandwidth than the first communications, providing a response message to the gateway responsive to the re-invite message where the providing of the response message causes the gateway to provide the tone to the other communication device.
