Patent number: 12170614Abstract: Techniques are described herein for service chaining in fabric networks such that hardware resources can be preserved without service nodes needing additional capabilities. The techniques may include storing a first configuration associated with a first VRF instance of a service forwarding node that is connected to a first service of a service chain sequence. The first configuration may indicate an identifier and a type associated with a second service of the service chain sequence where traffic is to be sent after the first service. Additionally, the techniques may also include storing a second configuration associated with a second VRF instance of the service forwarding node that is connected to the second service. The second configuration may indicate that the second service is a last service of the service chain sequence. When traffic is received at the service forwarding node, the service forwarding node can determine whether the traffic is pre-service traffic or post-service traffic.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2023Date of Patent: December 17, 2024Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Prakash C. Publication number: 20240414089Abstract: Techniques for determining an optimal connection path by a NHNaaS are described. The techniques may include receiving a registration from an IPS that includes service ISP service parameters, and storing the registration in a NaaS database. A request to connect to a remote service from a user device, including user parameters required is received. ISPs having respective service parameters compatible with the user parameters are identified in the NaaS database. Multiple paths offered by the service providers between the user device and the remote service are determined. Network performance data for each path is received from a network monitoring service. Using the network performance data, an optimal path for establishing the connection is identified. A request to instantiate a tunnel between the user device and remote service is transmitted to the service providers along the optimal path and the tunnel information is transmitted to the user device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2023Publication date: December 12, 2024Inventors: Nagendra Kumar Nainar, Carlos M. Patent number: 12149936Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for dynamically onboarding a UE between private 5G networks. In one aspect, a private 5G (P5G) federation system can receive a request from a user device for registration with a serving private 5G network, which is part of a P5G federation system. The P5G federation system can further determine that the user device is authenticated with a home private 5G network of the user device, which is also part of the P5G federation system. The P5G federation system can transmit, to the serving private 5G network, a security profile of the user device that is received from the home private 5G network. As follows, the P5G federation system can facilitate onboarding of the user device to the serving private 5G network with the security profile.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2022Date of Patent: November 19, 2024Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Vinay Saini, Snezana Mitrovic, Timothy P. Publication number: 20240365118Abstract: Techniques are described for providing secure audio calls between a calling party and a receiving party. Upon receiving a call request from a call initiating party, a notification is sent to the intended call recipient. The call recipient can send a request for a secure call. Upon receiving the request for a secure call, a bi-directional multifactor authentication is performed to authenticate the identity of both the call initiating party and the call receiving party. In response to successfully authenticating both parties, a secure call between the parties is established. One or more secure key tokens or other metadata can be embedded in the call to ensure security of the call.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2023Publication date: October 31, 2024Inventors: Nagendra Kumar Nainar, David John Zacks, Vinay Saini

Patent number: 12114198Abstract: An enterprise network may receive a WiFi packet associated with a 5G service (or other type of service) at an access point (AP) in the enterprise network. The enterprise network determines whether the WiFi packet satisfies a first-packet policy associated with the 5G service, where the first-packet policy controls access to a tunnel for traversing the enterprise network to reach the 5G service. If the packet satisfies the policy, the enterprise network queries a map server to identify a location of a 5G border in the enterprise network that is connected to the 5G service. The enterprise network can transmit the WiFi packet on the tunnel with priority to meet SLA using the location of the 5G border.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2023Date of Patent: October 8, 2024Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Prakash C. Patent number: 12081626Abstract: A method for a seamless transfer of a secure multimedia conference session from one endpoint device to another without a need to rekey the session is provided. In this method, a first endpoint device connects a participant to a multimedia conference session to which at least one other participant is connected and based on detecting one or more second endpoint devices within a predetermined location proximity of the first endpoint device, determines whether to transfer the multimedia conference session to a target endpoint device. Based on determining that the session is to be transferred, the first endpoint device establishes a secure pairing connection directly with the target endpoint device and provides, via the secure pairing connection, information about the multimedia conference session based on which the multimedia conference session is transferred to the target endpoint device without rekeying the multimedia conference session.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2023Date of Patent: September 3, 2024Assignee: CISCO TECHNOLOGY, INC.Inventors: Kaustubh Inamdar, Vinay Saini, Ankush Ganpatrai Arora

Patent number: 12052176Abstract: Techniques for policy-based failure handling of data that is received for processing by failed edge services are described herein. The techniques may include receiving, at an edge node of a network, a data handling policy for a service hosted on the edge node. The service may be configured to process traffic on behalf of an application hosted by a cloud-based platform. Publication number: 20240235991Abstract: This disclosure describes techniques for employing an adaptive mechanism in communications among network devices. Adaptive mechanism techniques may include adapting network operations relative to characteristics of devices and/or network access technologies or mechanisms used in the network. Adaptation may help to accommodate a wider variety of types of devices. For instance, adaptive mechanism techniques may include determining, based on characteristics of a device in the network, a forwarding mechanism to be used at an access device to forward data traffic from the device to another device via the network. As such, adaptive mechanism techniques may provide more efficient integration of devices within a complex network, thereby improving network operations.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2022Publication date: July 11, 2024Inventors: Prakash C.
