Publication number: 20260179372Abstract: A system develops classifiers that can aid medical professionals by diagnosing whether or not a patient has a medical condition like pneumothorax. The system breaks the task into multiple steps, using YOLOv4 to extract relevant regions of the video and a 3D sparse coding model to represent video features. Given the difficulty in acquiring positive training videos, the inventors trained a small-data classifier with a maximum of 15 positive and 32 negative examples. To counteract this limitation, the inventors leveraged subject matter expert (SME) knowledge to limit the hypothesis space, thus reducing the cost of data collection. The inventors present results using two lung ultrasound datasets and demonstrate that the inventors' model is capable of achieving performance on par with SMEs in pneumothorax identification.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2023Publication date: June 25, 2026Applicant: Drexel UniversityInventors: Christopher J. Publication number: 20260111260Abstract: Described is a system for responding to an interactive request by receiving an interactive request from a user through a communication interface on a data platform, the request including a question needing a response. A priority query request is generated based on the user's input, with a defined latency requirement specifying the maximum time allowed for generating the response. In order to meet this latency requirement, the batch size for processing on a graphical processing unit (GPU) handling multiple workloads of a large language model (LLM) is reduced. The priority query request is then inserted into the current batch being processed by the GPU, which is adjusted based on the reduced batch size.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2024Publication date: April 23, 2026Inventors: Vincent Chan, Zhaotian Wang

Publication number: 20250371384Abstract: Various embodiments described herein provide for systems, methods, devices, instructions, and like for swapping artificial intelligence models, such as large language models (LLMs), based on inference request monitoring. In particular, some embodiments monitor inference requests submitted to various inference engines (where each inference engine comprises a group of software containers sharing assigned computing resources) and, based on analysis of inference request data, available models, currently loaded models, or a combination thereof, determine whether to swap out a set of AI models currently active on a select inference engine with another set of AI models available on the select inference engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2024Publication date: December 4, 2025Inventors: Vincent Chan, Xu Chen, Pawel Pollak, Zhaotian Wang, Hao Zhang

Patent number: 10257171Abstract: A method of ensuring the identity of a first processing device to a second processing device allows for secure network communication between the devices. A network resource address including an encoded trusted identifier in a portion of the address excluding the host name of the first processing device are provided to a second processing device by a trusted distribution mechanism. The trusted identifier is derived from a public key of the first processing device. Communication is initiated with the first processing device at the network resource address and a public key purporting to identify the first processing device is received in response to initiating the communication. The trusted identifier is compared to a transformation of at least a portion of the public key to determine a match between the identifier and the transformation. If the trusted identifier and the transformation match, the identity of the first processing device is verified.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 2015Date of Patent: April 9, 2019Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventors: Mike Arnold Lyons, Vincent Chan, Richard Jason Refuerzo Raquepo

Patent number: 9207913Abstract: A protocol is provided for configuring and publishing an API on an API gateway using an API developer portal. An executable module is created on the API gateway that includes variables that control API runtime behaviors. A flag is included in the executable module indicating that the executable module may be published to the API developer portal. An API template is created on the API gateway that is linked to the flagged executable module, and that specifies the executable module variables that may be configured on the API developer portal. On the API developer portal, the API template is selected, the variables specified by the API template are configured, and the configured API template is saved and published as an API on the API gateway.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2014Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventor: Vincent Chan

Patent number: 8935788Abstract: A two stage virus detection system detects viruses in target files. In the first stage, a training application receives a master virus pattern file recording all known virus patterns and generates a features list containing fundamental virus signatures from the virus patterns, a novelty detection model, a classification model, and a set of segmented virus pattern files. In the second stage, a detection application scans a target file for viruses using the generated outputs from the first stage rather than using the master virus pattern file directly to do traditional pattern matching. The results of the scan can vary in detail depending on a fuzzy scan level. For fuzzy scan level “1,” the existence of a virus is returned. For fuzzy scan level “2,” the grant virus type found is returned. For fuzzy scan level “3,” the exact virus name is returned.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2008Date of Patent: January 13, 2015Assignee: Trend Micro Inc.Inventors: Lili Diao, Vincent Chan, Patrick Mg Lu

Patent number: 8023974Abstract: In one embodiment, a content filtering system generates a support vector machine (SVM) learning model in a server computer and provides the SVM learning model to a mobile phone for use in classifying text messages. The SVM learning model may be generated in the server computer by training a support vector machine with sample text messages that include spam and legitimate text messages. A resulting intermediate SVM learning model from the support vector machine may include a threshold value, support vectors and alpha values. The SVM learning model in the mobile phone may include the threshold value, the features, and the weights of the features. An incoming text message may be parsed for the features. The weights of features found in the incoming text message may be added and compared to the threshold value to determine whether or not the incoming text message is spam.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2007Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: Trend Micro IncorporatedInventors: Lili Diao, Vincent Chan, Patrick MG Lu
