  • Patent number: 7904516
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a multimedia electronic (mail) system and method for sending a voice message to an email recipient. The multimedia mail system includes a wireless communications network, at least one wireless communication device, an interactive voice response server for converting the voice message to a digitally stored audio file, and an email server for sending the audio file to the email recipient. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of communicatively connecting to a first server over the wireless communications network, selecting an option to send the audio file to the email recipient, communicatively connecting to a second server over the wireless communications network, recording the audio file on the second server, and sending the audio file to the email recipient.

  • Publication number: 20050021633
Abstract: An E-mail message enhancement apparatus is preferably implemented through a sequence of program instructions. On the sender side, creation software implements a data format that allows for differing types of content, such as visual images, audio, multimedia, and functional attributes such as links to a sender's home page on the world wide web. Furthermore, in addition to such content in the E-mail message, there is included header information, including the E-mail address of the sender, and recipient executable embedded software that ensures the recipient will be able to view contents and perform the functional attributes that make up the E-mail message.

  • Patent number: 6609005
Abstract: A system and method for displaying the current street address on the display of a mobile wireless communications device. The longitude and latitude of the device is determined by a system such as GPS and triangulation. This information is appended to the URL of a Web server, and a browser contained within the wireless device navigates to the server. The server performs reverse geocode processing on the longitude and latitude to compute the corresponding street address. The street address is then sent to the wireless device for display.

  • Publication number: 20030060211
Abstract: A wireless location-based information-retrieval system includes a wireless communication device. The wireless device has a transceiver for sending and receiving communications across a wireless communication network, a position-determination device for determining the location of the wireless device, and an Internet browser. A remote server communicates with the wireless device. The server receives the location data from the wireless device over the network and maintains a web page listing information service options. The information service options are accessible to and selectable by the wireless device via the browser. The server retrieves information from a database based on the location data provided by the wireless device and on the selected service option. The retrieved information is sent to the wireless device over the network.

  • Patent number: 6456854
Abstract: A system and method for locating mobile telephone devices via the Web. The mobile telephone device obtains and provides its location to a Web server in GPS latitude and longitude format. The communication between the Web server and the mobile telephone device may be through a browser or through mobile originated short message service. The Web server records the location information along with the time of receipt. Over time, the Web server may record several locations for a single mobile telephone device so that the progress of the mobile unit may be mapped. The information contained in the Web server is accessible to devices with Web browsing capabilities. A Web browsing device queries the Web server for location information pertaining to a particular mobile telephone device. The Web server may require authorization for such information before sending the location to the requesting device.

  • Patent number: 6381465
Abstract: A monitoring and alert system includes a wireless device that sends a monitoring request to a remote server. When the conditions specified by the monitoring request are met, the server generates an SMS alert message. The server determines the maximum length in characters of the SMS message and whether there is sufficient space remaining for an advertisement. If sufficient space is available, the server generates an advertisement and appends it to the SMS alert message. The alert message with appended advertising is then sent to the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20020010000
Abstract: A wireless knowledge-based information-retrieval system includes a wireless communication device. The wireless device has a transceiver for sending and receiving communications across a wireless communication network, a software agent responsible for quickly and efficiently accessing relevant information and providing it to a user, at least one knowledge database, and a position-determination device for determining the location of the wireless device. The software agent takes information requests from the user and communicates them via the wireless network and the Internet to a knowledge agency. The knowledge agency comprises individual knowledge agents that take the request and search for relevant information in information resources such as the Internet and electronic databases and directories. The knowledge agency transmits the information back to the software agent, which delivers it to the user.
