Abstract: A bladed rotor having blade slots in the periphery and peripheral lands between the slots, has a row of blades positioned in the slots with laterally extending platforms on the blades overlying the lands, the circumferential space between the outer edges of adjacent platforms, which space is radially outward of the associated lands, is closed by a flexible thin seal held axially and circumferentially in position under the space between the platforms.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for balancing rotating machinery components which ncorporate butted flanges or faces is provided. A circumferential slot is formed on the interior face of one of the flanges and a hole is bored in either flange communicating with the slot. A sheet metal lock is inserted through the hole along the side surface thereof and a balancing weight or counterweight is inserted adjacent the lock. End tabs in the lock which extend in opposite directions are bent to support and retain the counterweight within the hole in the flange.
