  • Patent number: 5369699
Abstract: A supervisory system and method automatically tracks and reports the status, e.g., current address, employer, telephone number, etc., of a group of enrollees, and automatically collects a fee for such service. Each enrollee "reports in" to a host CPU of the system in accordance with a specific contact schedule, e.g., once a month, through a fee-based telephone network that automatically charges a prescribed toll fee to the originating telephone number whenever telephone contact remains established for more than a preamble time period. The host CPU, using individual calling line identification (ICLID) information included in the incoming telephone call, identifies the telephone number of the incoming call and determines if it belongs to an enrollee of the system. If not, the incoming call is disconnected before the preamble time period expires, thereby preventing the incoming caller from being charged the toll fee.

  • Patent number: 5204670
Abstract: A personnel monitoring system includes a host central processing unit, or CPU, maintained by a supervising agency that automatically, or by request, receives and interprets data from individuals being monitored. The monitored individuals may wear or carry a transmitting or transponding unit that periodically, or upon request, transmits a uniquely encoded signal that identifies the person being monitored, as well as information about the condition or activities of the person being monitored. Lower risk monitored individuals may be required to simply contact the host CPU on a regular basis, e.g., weekly, monthly, or yearly. The host CPU includes a plurality of software submodules that can be selectively installed therein to allow a desired monitoring configuration to be used in order to best meet the needs of the monitoring agency. The communication link between the individual and the CPU may be by way of existing telephone lines or other telecommunicative links.

  • Patent number: 4952928
Abstract: A personnel monitoring system includes a transmitting or transponding unit that is worn or carried by the individual being monitored. This transmitting or transponder unit periodically, or upon request, transmits a uniquely encoded signal that identifies the person being monitored, as well as information about the condition or activities of the person being monitored. Such condition or activites are sensed by sensors, coupled to the transmitting unit, that monitor selected body functions or parameters, such as heart rate, amount of skin perspiration, muscle movement, and the like. The monitoring system also includes a field monitoring device, or FMD, that is positioned near the person being monitored (or at a location where the person being monitored should be found). The FMD receives, processes, and stores the periodic or requested signals transmitted from the transmitting unit as directed by a program stored in a factory-removable and replaceable memory pack.
