  • Patent number: 7920957
Abstract: A method for metering fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine is provided, in which a fuel quantity to be metered for a combustion is metered by a preinjection and at least one additional injection, and in which, in the operation of the internal combustion engine, quantity errors of the preinjection are ascertained from the signal of at least structure-borne noise sensor. The method is distinguished in that a correction value is formed as a function of the quantity error of the preinjection, and at least one of the additional injections is corrected using the correction value. A control device is also provided that controls the method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 2006
Date of Patent: April 5, 2011
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH
Inventors: Patrick Mattes, Mark Damson, Matthias Schueler, Christian Mader, Michael Kessler, Vincent Dautel
  • Patent number: 7881855
Abstract: A method and control unit for metering fuel into at least one combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine comprising at least one pilot injection and one main injection per combustion cycle, combustion features being detected and an effect of a fuel quantity injected prior to the main injection being ascertained from the combustion features. An actual value of a combined effect of at least two pilot injections per combustion cycle is ascertained and the actual value is regulated to a setpoint value via an intervention on at least one of the pilot injections.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 1, 2011
    Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbH

  • Patent number: 7404391
Abstract: A method for controlling an internal combustion engine calculates the generated internal torque for each cylinder on the basis of the signal generated by an angle of rotation sensor for detecting the angle of rotation of the crankshaft, so that a rapid and precise regulation of the torque supplied by the internal combustion engine may be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7269498
Abstract: A device and a method for controlling an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel engine, are described. Based on the signal from a structure-borne noise detector, parameters are determined which are used to regulate the internal combustion engine. At least one parameter is determined through an analysis that includes a filtering which selects at least two angular ranges.

  • Patent number: 7260469
Abstract: In a method for operating an internal combustion engine, a first data quantity is derived based on a signal of a first sensor which detects the pressure in a first combustion chamber of a plurality of combustion chambers, and a second data quantity is derived based on a signal of a second sensor, which second data quantity is a function of the pressure variation in at least one of the plurality of combustion chambers. The first data quantity and the second data quantity are functions of the pressure variation in the same combustion chamber, and a drift of the second sensor is ascertained from a change over time in the second data quantity with respect to the first data quantity.
