  • Patent number: 4945812
Abstract: A muzzle brake for a firearm is formed from an elongated tubular sleeve that has a plurality of circular rows of apertures drilled from its outer surface to its inner bore. The circumferential spacing between each of the apertures in each row being such that they intersect the adjacent appertures on both sides of them at a point intermediate the wall thickness to produce integrally formed baffles in the interior of the tubular sleeve. The baffles function to reduce the recoil of the firearm and further to aid in directing the propellant gases of a bullet radially outwradly through the radial apertures of the muzzle brake.

  • Patent number: 4459895
Abstract: A recoil reducing device for firearms having an elongated tubular member with an x-axis. One end of the tubular member has structure on it for detachably connecting the tubular member to the axial end of the gun barrel of a firearm. The tubular member has structure for causing the expanding gases that are released during the firing of a bullet from a firearm to exit radially from the tubular member in a helical spiral path. This structure comprises a plurality of longitudinally spaced slots in the outer wall of the tubular member. These slots extend radially inwardly a sufficient distance to communicate with the bore of the tubular member. These slots are 180 degrees more or less of the diameter of the tubular member and each of the successive longitudinally spaced slots are sequentially rotated a predetermined number of degrees about the circumference of the tubular member to form a helical pattern through which the exhaust gases of a bullet will pass as they exit the lateral sides of the tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4341283
Abstract: A sound suppression system having a sound suppression chamber formed from a longitudinally extending tubular housing. One end of the tubular housing is closed by an end plug which has a bore through which passes one end of a tubular member. The tubular member comprises a gun barrel having a cylindrical sleeve surrounding a predetermined length of the gun barrel. The tubular member has a plurality of tubular passages each of which have their one end in communication with the bore of the gun barrel and their other end longitudinally displaced therefrom adjacent the end of the gun barrel to place them in communication with the interior of the sound suppression chamber. A baffle having a cylindrical body approximating the interior diameter of the tubular housing is positioned within the tubular housing. Both the interior of the tubular housing and the outer cylindrical housing of the baffle are threaded so that the baffle may be adjustably positioned through the length of the tubular housing.
