    Abstract: Disclosed is an isolated protein from the Chinese medicinal herb, Yuzhu, Polygonatum odoratum (Liliaceae). The protein disclosed is an effective agent showing potent antiviral activities while demonstrating antiproliferative effect on HL-60 leukemia and MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines in vitro. A method of obtaining the target protein and use thereof are also provided.
