  • Patent number: 9893579
Abstract: A dynamoelectric machine includes a rotor having a rotor core and permanent magnets, and a stator having teeth. The permanent magnets are arranged in magnet sets. Each magnet set includes one or more of the permanent magnets. The rotor core has a cylindrical periphery and slits. Each of the slits is positioned radially between one of the magnet sets and the cylindrical periphery. Each tooth includes a tooth surface facing the cylindrical periphery. The tooth surface includes an inner portion extending substantially parallel to the cylindrical periphery of the rotor core, and beveled portions positioned on opposing sides of the inner portion of the tooth surface. An air gap between each beveled portion of the tooth surface and the cylindrical periphery of the rotor core is greater than an air gap between the inner portion of the tooth surface and the cylindrical periphery of the rotor core.

  • Publication number: 20140147294
Abstract: A variable capacity compressor assembly (20) configured for variable capacity modulation includes a housing (30), with a compressing mechanism (22) and a driving mechanism (24) disposed within the housing. The compressing mechanism includes compressing members (54, 56) that are shiftable relative to one another between loaded and unloaded states. The driving mechanism includes a line-start brushless permanent magnet motor (26). The line-start brushless permanent magnet motor includes a plurality of permanent magnets (102) that are mounted on, and extend generally axially along, a rotor core body (90) of the motor. Using the motor may reduce manufacture cost, maintain conveniently, and increase reliability.

  • Publication number: 20120082573
Abstract: A line-start brushless permanent magnet motor assembly includes an unconventional combination of a rotor assembly including a plurality of permanent magnets mounted thereon, and a stator assembly including aluminum winding coils. The unique combination of construction features leads to significant motor performance enhancements at lower incremental cost. The line-start brushless permanent magnet motor assembly may be incorporated into a hermetic compressor, such as may be used in an air conditioning system, to meet high efficiency standards (e.g., seasonal efficiency energy rating). The disclosed embodiments have an efficiency of at least 90% with winding coils consisting essentially entirely of aluminum.

  • Publication number: 20070296288
Abstract: A hermetic motor includes a stator having at least one winding formed by a winding wire, and an on-winding motor protector having at least one contact. To improve the reliability and reduce the cost of the hermetic motor, the winding wire is directly coupled (without a lead wire) to the motor protector contact. Additionally, a common wire extending from the motor protector to a cluster block (if applicable) can be the same type of wire as the winding wire.

  • Publication number: 20060003630
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a terminal attached to a length of wiring that extends from the stator windings of an electrical device, and a tubular insulating sleeve that extends along the length of wiring. The sleeve is secured stationary relative to both the wiring and the terminal by being secured to the stator windings by the same mechanical connection that binds the stator windings.

  • Publication number: 20050136730
Abstract: An electric terminal connector block is provided with oblong tool openings that communicate with interior channels of the connector block and with openings in the motor wiring electric terminals positioned in each channel of the connector block. The oblong shapes of the tool openings enable insertion of tool pins through the tool openings and openings of the electric terminals and movement of the tool pins along the lengths of the oblong tool openings whereby the tool pins engage with the electric terminals and move the terminals relative to the connector block to insure that the terminals are locked in place in the connector block. In addition, the tooling used with the connector block is operated according to a method that insures that the terminals of the motor winding are moved to a position relative to the connector block where the terminals are locked in place.
