Abstract: The invention relates to conjugates of hydroxypyridinone derivative metal complexes and to their preparation. The conjugates are suitable as contrast agents in NMR diagnosis. A high relaxivity is achieved and the NMRD maximum is raised through a specific design of the ligands.

Abstract: Chelating ligands and metal chelates useful as CEST MR contrast agents are disclosed. The CEST agents can be used to evaluate blood volume changes in the heart and brain.

Abstract: Methods and systems for defining and distributing information alerts include presenting a user with a series of templates that allows the user to define security events, information alerts to be triggered by the events, and intended recipients for the alerts. Intended recipients for the alerts are presented with templates that allow the individuals to input contact and schedule information for receiving the information alerts. A knowledge switch uses the event definitions and the contact and schedule information to detect events and distribute the information alerts to the intended recipients when an event occurs. The information alerts include directives that instruct intended recipients regarding action to be taken in response to a security event.

Abstract: Organic chelating ligands, organic chelating ligand precursors, and metal chelates are disclosed. Methods for synthesizing the same are also described, including methods for preparing optically-enriched or optically-pure compositions of the same.

Abstract: Metal complexes of new ligands of the formula ##STR1## are useful as agents for medical imaging, particularly MRI, for in vitro or in vivo diagnostic or as radiopharmaceuticals. In these compounds, X--R.sup.1 --Y is a coordinating group able to form a highly stable complex with metal ions. Suitable units are for example derivatives of ortho-phenanthroline or of an hydroxamic acid. R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are reactive functions such as amines or carboxylic groups. R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are ligands, for instance diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid 1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DTPA), 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetic acid (DOTA) or 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-N, N', N", N'"-tetraacetic acid (TETA), of a different type than the X--R.sup.1 --Y units and able to strongly encapsulate metal ions with which the X--R.sup.1 --Y moieties form less stable chelates.
