  • Publication number: 20160072689
Abstract: Round trip time (RTT) measurements may be obtained from downlink (DL) trigger frame and uplink (UL) Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) frame transactions, which can replace and/or complement separate RTT measurements. By implementing such techniques, wireless systems can make access to RTT measurements, and consequently, location determination of access points (APs) within the system, more easily accessible to navigation and/or other applications benefitting from such measurements and determinations.

  • Patent number: 9276795
Abstract: Methods, systems, and/or devices are provided that permit data transmissions over unused television channels. A method operational in a receiver device, includes monitoring one or more repurposed channels within a television broadcast frequency spectrum for data waveforms, wherein waveforms of different bandwidths coexist within the one or more repurposed channels, and at least a larger waveform has a first bandwidth larger than a channel bandwidth for each repurposed channel. The method also includes receiving a waveform over a repurposed channel from among the one or more repurposed channels, wherein the received waveform has a second bandwidth smaller than the channel bandwidth. The method further includes processing the received waveform by applying a downclocking factor to a clock of the receiver device that causes the receiver device to process the received waveform according to the second bandwidth to obtain a data payload from the received waveform.

  • Publication number: 20160057656
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a wireless communication device. A wireless communication device may receive a data frame and use it to estimate a residual channel length (RCL). The device may then modify a finite impulse response (FIR) filter based on the estimated RCL. For example, the device may add additional taps to the FIR filter. The device may continue to adjust the FIR filter until the RCL is at or near zero. In some cases, the wireless communication device may send an indication to the transmitting device to adjust an FIR filter based on the estimated RCL. In some cases, the length of a guard interval may also be adjusted based on the estimated RCL.

  • Patent number: 9220023
Abstract: A first wireless station provides a configuration indication value that specifies a maximum number of medium access control layer service data units (MSDUs) that may be included in each medium access control layer protocol data unit (MPDU), or in each aggregated MPDU (A-MPDU), received by the first wireless station. A second wireless station receives the configuration indication value from the first wireless station, and in response, transmits only MSDUs (or A-MSDUs) having no more than the specified maximum number of MSDUs to the first wireless station. The configuration indication value can be included in various elements transmitted between the first and second wireless stations, including for example, a high throughput (HT) capabilities element, a very high throughput (VHT) capabilities information field, a VHT operation element or an add block acknowledge (ADDBA) response frame.

  • Publication number: 20150236931
Abstract: An explicit indication is provided regarding whether information was subjected to interference during transmission. For example, a receiver can monitor received packets and determine whether any of data units in a given received packet were subjected to interference during transmission. If so, the receiver can send an indication to the transmitter to inform the transmitter of the interference. This indication enables the transmitter to distinguish between packet loss that occurred as a result of channel fade and packet loss that occurred as a result of interference. Consequently, the transmitter is able to invoke different actions depending on whether the packet loss is due to channel fade or interference.

  • Patent number: 9100177
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for acknowledging communications from a plurality of wireless devices in a wireless network are described herein. In some embodiments, an access point for the wireless network transmits a group acknowledgment (ACK) to indicate whether communications (packets) from the plurality of wireless devices have been received or correctly decoded within some time interval. Each wireless device may have a different time interval associated with it. For some embodiments, the time interval for a wireless device is relative to when a previous group ACK was sent. A group ACK may include a bitmap. In some embodiments, the bitmap indicating whether a communication has been received or correctly decoded may be transmitted as part of a beacon.
