Abstract: A distributed messaging method for publishing topical data messages in a communications network can include the steps of receiving in a first message router from a data consumer a request to subscribe to a message topic; responsive to receiving the subscription request, retrieving from a message topic server a location of a second message router communicatively linked to a data publisher able to provide data messages consonant with the requested message topic; establishing an interprocess communications connection between the first and second message routers; and, transmitting data messages from the data publisher over the established interprocess communications link to the data consumer.

Abstract: A method of tracking an entity (130) through a plurality of tracking stations (205, 210, 215, 220) in a wireless ad-hoc network. A unique identifier (250) can be assigned to the entity at a first (205) of the plurality of tracking stations and wirelessly transmitted to at least a second tracking station (210). The number of the tracking stations can be dynamically varied on an ad-hoc basis responsive to variations in a tracking environment. The unique identifier can be selectively communicated to at least a second tracking station based on a predicted transit scenario of the entity. The identifier can be stored on a datastore, such as a radio frequency identification tag (125) attached to the entity. A biometric scan of the entity can be performed. For example, a facial scan, an iris scan, a fingerprinting, or palm printing can be performed to assign a unique identifier.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for ensuring secure access to a computer system (1000). The method can begin with the step of receiving in the computer system a request from an entity (using 1002). The entity can have a predetermined access authorization level for access to a first base node (110) representing an information type (102) or a computer system function (104). The system determines if the access request completes a prohibited temporal access pattern for the entity. The system also compares a minimum access level established for the first base node to the predetermined access authorization level assigned to the entity. Thereafter, the system can grant the access request only if the minimum access level for the first base node does not exceed to the predetermined access authorization level.
