  • Patent number: 10166818
Abstract: A snow tire tread having a plurality of blocks separated by grooves and provided with sipe incisions dividing into several parts from a certain depth onwards, (complex sipes each having, when viewed in cross section, a rectilinear first part extending radially from the tread surface of the tread, and a second part extending the first part and comprising at least two branches each having an end. The tread has cavities each extending between the branches of a complex sipe and having a bottom situated at the same level as the ends of the branches. The cavities and the grooves of the tread are configured so that this tread has a voids surface ratio at the end of wear greater than or equal to 35%. Furthermore, the distance (D) between two branches of two adjacent complex sipes is at least equal to 2 mm.

  • Publication number: 20180104992
Abstract: Tire comprising a tread (3), with a tread surface contacting the road surface, a shoulder region (5) partially delimiting the tread (3), and a plurality of complex cutouts (6) extending through the tread (3) and through the shoulder region (5). Each complex cutout (6) comprises a sipe (7) that leads onto the tread surface and a channel (8) that extends the sipe (7) into the depth of the tread and leads onto a surface (9) of the shoulder region (5). Channel (8) of sipe (7) has a main part (11) extending through tread (3) and a widened part (12) extending through shoulder region (5) from the main part of the channel to surface (9) of shoulder region (5). As seen in cross section, the widened part (12) makes, with the surface (9) of the shoulder region (5), an outlet angle ? of less than 90 degrees.

  • Publication number: 20180072103
Abstract: A tire comprising a tread. This tread comprises at least one elongate block delimited by at least one lateral wall (5) and a contact face (7). The lateral wall (5) makes a non-zero angle with a transverse direction and the contact face contacts a road surface. The tire comprises at least one channel (19) extending through the elongate block and leading onto the lateral wall (5) of this elongate block. The tire also comprises a sipe extending from the channel towards the contact face, this sipe leading onto the lateral wall of the elongate block in a lateral wall outlet region. The lateral wall of the elongate block is inclined with respect to a radial direction (Z), at least in the lateral wall outlet region of the sipe, at an angle ? of between 20 degrees and 60 degrees with respect to this radial direction (Z).

  • Patent number: 9902209
Abstract: A tread having a plurality of grooves formed on each half of the tread on each side of a midplane X-X?, each opening axially to the outside and extending axially towards the midplane X-X? so that the plurality of grooves forms a first pattern in the overall shape of a V pointing in a groove direction Xr. The tread includes a plurality of sipes. From a certain degree of wear onwards, all or some of the sipes become enlarged forming cavities extending in an oblique direction forming a second pattern in the overall shape of a V pointing in a cavity direction Xc. Each of these cavities opens into just one of the grooves of the tread, the plurality of grooves forming, at this level of wear, the same first pattern.

  • Publication number: 20170259622
Abstract: A tire comprising a tread comprising a plurality of main grooves (1) arranged on each side of a midplane X-X?, each of these main grooves (1) opening axially to the outside of the tread and extending axially towards the midplane X-X? so that the plurality of main grooves forms a pattern in the overall shape of a V. Above and beyond a determined certain degree of wear, at least one additional groove (3) appears between two circumferentially adjacent main grooves (N?1, N), the additional groove running parallel overall to the main grooves (N?1, N).
