Abstract: A biosensing device for detecting biological analytes, and methods of use and manufacture, are disclosed. The device includes a biosensing element that can remain implanted for extended periods of time. The biosensing element is connected to an optical fiber terminating outside of the body. The optical fiber is also connected to an information analyzer. The information analyzer directs light through the optical fiber into the biosensing element. The light excites fluorophores, created by a chemical reaction between analytes and biosensing material within the biosensing element. Emitted fluorescent light is redirected through the optical fiber to the information analyzer. Detectors detect the deflected fluorescent emissions and, according to their determined wavelength, report the presence or quantity of specific analytes to the patient on an external display.

Abstract: A laser leveling device includes a laser instrument disposed in a housing, a plate slidably received in the housing and a lens attached to the plate. The plate is movable relative to the housing to selectively align the lens with the laser instrument, to allow the light beam generated by the light emitting device to selectively emit through the lens. The plate includes an aperture movable to align with the laser instrument, to allow the light beam to selectively emit through the aperture of the plate directly, without emitting through the lens. A switch may be actuated by the plate to actuate the laser instrument when either the aperture of the plate or the lens is aligned with the laser instrument.

The plate has one or more catches for openably securing the plate to the casing. The casing includes one or more retainers for retaining the plate at the open position relative to the casing. A level housing has a chamber for receiving the casing, and the casing has one or more latched engageable with the level housing. The bubble vial preferably includes a cylindrical shape having a flat upper surface.
