A lid member protects the foam applicator from an external environment and defines at least one aperture therein, wherein the lid member is coupled to the plate to form a breakable seal between the plate and the lid member. A tray member, having a bottom surface and at least one sidewall to define a volume therein, contains the foam applicator. The foam applicator is hermetically sealed from the external environment by the lid member, plate and tray member. The lid member is detachable from both the plate and the tray to release the foam applicator from the fluid delivery device and is in a ready-to-use condition without further activation.
