  • Patent number: 12492675
Abstract: A water turbine assembly for installation in a water flow defining a flow direction, the assembly comprising: an array of blades that is rotatable by the water flow about a turbine axis, transverse to the flow direction, to describe a blade path surrounding the turbine axis, each of the blades being pivotable about a respective pitch axis, the pitch axes being distributed with mutual angular spacing along the blade path; and a cam formation positioned to be engaged with the blades while the blades traverse a first portion of the blade path and to be disengaged from the blades while the blades traverse a second portion of the blade path. As each blade traverses the first portion of the blade path, pivoting of the blade about its pitch axis is controlled by engagement with the cam formation.

  • Patent number: 10876515
Abstract: An accelerator and water turbine assembly is provided for mounting in a tidal stream having a water turbine (12) and a water flow accelerator for providing a turbine driver current having a speed greater than that of the uninterrupted ambient tidal stream in which the accelerator has an accelerator body member (11) having a water flow facing front face (13) and side faces (14) depending therefrom around which the water flows adjacent each of the side faces as a turbine driver current and in which the water turbine (12) is mounted to be at least partially shrouded by the accelerator body member from the accelerated turbine driver current flowing adjacent and relatively close to a side face of the accelerator where the water flow achieves substantially maximum velocity and in which the accelerator is laterally spaced apart from the turbine driver current modifying effect of any other flow obstruction.

  • Patent number: 10371120
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved vertical axis water turbine assembly (2) for generating rotary power from fluid flow, the water turbine assembly (2) having active blade pitch control. The water turbine assembly (2) comprises a plurality of vertical blades (20) disposed about a vertical assembly axis, each vertical blade (20) having a vertical blade axis and being adapted for movement about said vertical blade axis. The water turbine assembly (2) further includes guide means to control the movement of each of the plurality of vertical blades (20) as the water turbine assembly (2) rotates.

  • Patent number: 9770387
Abstract: Evaporator tray (100) for a sauna heater has one or more elongate plate members (102) extending across a support member (104). Support member (104) has at least two sides. In use, plate members (102) support rocks (not shown). Plate members (102) have a generally concave or hollow cross-section with a hollow face (106) upturned, which means they can collect unevaporated water, thereby protecting the sauna heater. The generally concave shape may be “V”-shaped, “U”-shaped, arcuate or concave, or any shape suitable for retaining water.
