  • Patent number: 8307575
Abstract: A rifle assembly includes a central chassis having a vertically aligned opening and a pair of slots extending from the sidewalls into the opening. An action has a pair of projections engageable with the at slots in the chassis and is removably securable within the chassis. The action is insertable into and removable from above the chassis, with the action axis at an angle to the chassis axis, to engage the respective action and chassis slot and projection. The action is rotatable with respect to the chassis upon engagement of the respective action and chassis slot and projection to align the axes of the action and chassis and lock the action to the chassis against rotation and removal. A resilient material is disposed between the chassis and action to load the action to the chassis with a force in excess of recoil force of the action.

  • Patent number: 8028455
Abstract: A firearms magazine has compound tapered side walls and feed lips having substantially parallel end portions for maintaining contact with the cartridge as it is loaded. Removable inserts reduce the interior length and width to hold cartridges of different sizes. One insert has a channel along its height to protect the cartridge noses, and is held by a reinforcing member. A movable cartridge follower feeds the cartridges out of the magazine and has a pair of projections extending along its length for contacting and centering the last cartridge and a projection at one end slideable in the channel of the insert. The follower has one or more downwardly extending members to contact the floor or walls to maintain position of the follower with respect thereto. Projections extending inward from the side walls contact shoulders of the firearms cartridges in sliding relationship as they are fed out of the magazine.

  • Patent number: 7774994
Abstract: A mast section for a telescoping tower system is made by aligning press brake tools along the length of the metal sheet at spaced width locations and forming the corners of the tube. After forming of the last corner, an opening remains along the length of the tube. The press brake male tool axis is offset sufficiently to permit the tool to apply forming force to the last corner of the tube through the opening, and is sized to remove the tool from the opening. At least three mast sections are nested to form the tower system. Pulleys for a cable extension system are mounted near the upper and lower ends of a wall of an intermediate mast section, with one of the pulleys being oriented at an acute angle to the mast section wall to permit routing of the cable.

  • Publication number: 20090056191
Abstract: A firearm having a barrel and an accessory mounting system. The accessory mounting system has a hand guard surrounding a portion of the barrel and fastening features coupled to the hand guard. Peripheral device mounting rails are coupled to the fastening features and located in a generally “Y” shape pattern. The generally “Y” shape pattern has a first peripheral device mounting rail located on a lower portion of the hand guard and second and third peripheral device mounting rails located on opposing sides of an upper portion of the hand guard. The peripheral device mounting rails are placed where peripheral devices mounted on the peripheral device mounting rails do not interfere with a line of sight of the firearm.

  • Publication number: 20090030311
Abstract: An end effector includes a first portion having a first specific acoustic impedance value, and a second portion having a second specific acoustic impedance value less than the first specific acoustic impedance value. The first portion includes a proximal end segment of the end effector and a distal end segment of the end effector, and the proximal end segment and the distal end segment are composed of a first material. The second portion includes an insert segment of the end effector composed of a second material. The insert segment is located between the proximal end segment and the distal end segment along the longitudinal axis of the end effector. The insert segment functions to bridge or fill the nodal energy gap. A surgical instrument includes a transducer configured to produce vibrations along a longitudinal axis as a predetermined frequency. An ultrasonic blade extends along the longitudinal axis coupled to the transducer.

  • Patent number: 6881923
Abstract: A method for laser machining parts from a strip comprises providing a strip of material from which parts are to be made, feeding the strip into a laser station having first and second lasers, and positioning the first laser with respect to the strip. With the first laser, the method then includes laser machining substantially all of an outline of a plurality of parts in sequence along the strip, leaving at least one tab portion connecting each part to the strip. The second laser is then positioned with respect to the strip and, with the second laser, the method then includes laser machining tab portions connecting parts to the strip in sequence along the strip, and separating the laser machined parts from remaining portions of the strip. Preferably, the first laser and the second laser move simultaneously in the same direction with respect to the strip during laser machining.

  • Patent number: 6515253
Abstract: A process for laser machining continuously metal stamped strip feeds a strip of metal into an otherwise conventional press and partially, mechanically forms a part in the strip, without removing the part from the strip. The partially formed part, as still attached to the strip, is then fed continuously into a laser machining station where a laser then performs the desired machining, e.g., hole cutting, etching (e.g., partial cutting through a thickness) or other conventional laser machining processes, to the part while attached to the strip. The laser machining may also precede the mechanical forming. The partially formed, laser machined part, again as it is still attached to the strip, is then fed into another press and the mechanical part formation is finished and/or the part is cut out and separated from the strip.

  • Patent number: 6301804
Abstract: A boot traction device or adapter that can be attached to the bottom of a person's footwear, which is removable, adjustable as well as lightweight. In manufacturing the present invention, a single style of sole plate can be configured for either a right or a left foot. The device can be adapted to fit onto any size of shoe or footwear and adjustable strap connectors are used to secure the adapter to the footwear. Threaded openings are provided for the attachment of gripping cleats or other devices to the adapter. Furthermore, the design of the adapter is such that an optional heel plate can be connected to the sole plate.

  • Patent number: 6085456
Abstract: A fish hook in the form of a flat, hook-shaped, sheet metal stamping which is flat-stamped from relatively thin, flat sheet-metal stock, said flat stamping having a planar, hook-shaped portion and an elongate shank portion both of which have rectangular cross-sectional configurations. The hook-shaped portion includes a bill portion both of which portions are disposed in the same plane as the shank portion, and the bill portion is integral with the hook-shaped portion and also has a rectangular cross sectional configuration. The said shank portion of the hook has a seamless eye which enables it to be attached to a fish line.

  • Patent number: 5941014
Abstract: A composite fish hook which provides multiple barbs, consists of a main hook part and a dependent hook part that is attached mechanically and physically to the main hook part. The main hook part has a shank portion and a barb portion which latter has twin barbs disposed back to back. The dependent hook part also has a shank, and has either one or two barb portions. If it has two barb portions, these are also disposed back to back. The shank portions of the hook parts are so formed with interfitting sections, that they can be press-fitted together under a camming action which causes temporary distortion of the materials but results in a mechanical junction that is especially rugged and resistant to separation.

  • Patent number: 5845429
Abstract: A one-piece sheet metal fish hook comprises a member which derives much of its strength from the unique formations of the sheet metal stock. The member has a shank portion, a bill portion connected to one end of the shank portion, and an eye portion connected to the other end of the shank portion. The metal is formed to provide layers or laminations which shape the eye portion, such layers having one set of corresponding edges that are joined by a tight fold. The shank and bill portions are partly of channel cross section and partly of layered or laminated cross section, the latter having corresponding edges which are integrally joined to each other by a tight fold of the metal. The various formations provide for different degrees of strength and rigidity, at desired places.
