  • Publication number: 20180340419
Abstract: A method includes deploying a fluid sampling tool string downhole, the fluid sampling tool string including a control module and a plurality of fluid sampling modules. The method also includes receiving, by the control module, a telemetry signal from a surface interface. The method also includes transmitting, by the control module, a downlink acoustic signal based at least in part on the received telemetry signal. The method also includes initiating a fluid sampling operation, by at least one of the plurality of fluid sampling modules, in response to the downlink acoustic signal.

  • Patent number: 8960998
Abstract: A system for mixing a formation fluid sample obtained in a downhole sampling chamber. The system includes a mixing element disposed in the downhole sampling chamber. A support stand is operable to receive the downhole sampling chamber. A magnetic field generator is operably associated with the downhole sampling chamber such that when the magnetic field generator generates a magnetic field, the mixing element moves through the formation fluid sample responsive to the magnetic field, thereby mixing the formation fluid sample.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 15, 2013
Date of Patent: February 24, 2015
    Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.
Inventors: Paul David Ringgenberg, Paul I. Herman, Vincent Paul Zeller, Donald H. Perkins
  • Patent number: 8752620
Abstract: An assembly capable of being disposed in a subterranean bore for obtaining a fluid sample is described. The assembly can include an apparatus having a sample chamber and a housing encasing the sample chamber and providing a pressure source. The pressure source can be disposed of in an annulus defined by the sample chamber and the housing. The assembly can be attached to a slick line or wire line and conveyed into a wellbore.

  • Patent number: 8443897
Abstract: A subsea safety system (50) for use during a well treatment operation. The subsea safety system (50) includes a tubular string having an inner flow passage (112). At least one valve assembly (116, 134) is positioned within the tubular string. The valve assembly (116, 134) is operable between open and closed positioned to selectively permit and prevent fluid flow therethrough. A frangible liner (134) is disposed within the valve assembly (116, 134). The frangible liner (134) has a close fitting but not fluid tight relationship with the valve assembly (116, 134). The frangible liner (134) is operable to protect the valve assembly (116, 134) from particle flow during the well treatment operation. In addition, the frangible liner (134) is operable to shatter responsive to closure of the valve assembly (116, 134), thereby allowing full operation of the valve assembly (116, 134).

  • Patent number: 8397824
Abstract: A hydraulic control system (100) for actuating a downhole tool. The hydraulic control system (100) includes a plurality of valve members (124) operable to selectively allow and prevent fluid communication between high and low pressure sources (54, 56) and first and second sides (58, 60) of an actuator (64) operably associated with the downhole tool. In the hydraulic control system (100), a first valve member (124) is ported between the high pressure source (54) and the first side (58) of the actuator (64), a second valve member (124) is ported between the low pressure source (56) and the first side (58) of the actuator (64), a third valve member (124) is ported between the high pressure source (54) and the second side (60) of the actuator (64) and a fourth valve member (124) is ported between the low pressure source (56) and the second side of the actuator (60).
