Publication number: 20240111436Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a storage client, an input/output (I/O) request from a mainframe application, the input/output (I/O) request being pursuant to a first protocol, the first protocol being a proprietary, mainframe protocol. The storage client may include a plurality of drivers, each driver being associated with a respective one of a plurality of data sources. A first one of the plurality of data sources that is suitable for addressing the I/O request is identified, it being configured to communicate using a second protocol, inconsistent with the first. Configuration data associated with the respective driver of the identified data source is accessed and used to convert the I/O request to a corresponding capability of the identified data source. The I/O request is executed on the identified data source, using the corresponding capability pursuant to the second protocol, and data is received from the identified data source, in response to the I/O request.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2022Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicant: VirtualZ Computing CorporationInventors: Vincent R. Publication number: 20240070042Abstract: A method includes monitoring a job being executed at the source mainframe. A job comprises multiple tasks. A method includes monitoring a particular task of the multiple tasks being executed at a source mainframe and determining an application required to execute the particular task. In response to determining that the particular task requires an application to execute, determining a target mainframe where the application is installed. A method further includes validating the environment of the target mainframe to confirm that the particular task can be executed using the target mainframe, and upon validating the target mainframe, redirecting the particular task to the target mainframe for execution. A method also includes monitoring the particular task being executed at the target mainframe and returning the results of the particular task from the target mainframe to the source mainframe.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2023Publication date: February 29, 2024Applicant: VirtualZ Computing CorporationInventors: Jeanne M. Publication number: 20230153279Abstract: A method includes receiving, from a client device, an input/output (I/O) request pursuant to a first protocol, the first protocol being a standards-based I/O protocol. The I/O request is communicated to a proxy communicatively coupled with a mainframe server, the mainframe server being configured to communicate using a second protocol, the second protocol being a proprietary, mainframe protocol that is inconsistent with the first protocol. The method further includes accessing a database having a mapping of a plurality of I/O requests of the first protocol to a plurality of corresponding capabilities of the second protocol, and converting the I/O request pursuant to the first protocol to a corresponding capability pursuant to the second protocol. Security and management policies associated with the mainframe server are enforced using the proxy and the I/O request is executed on the mainframe server, using the corresponding capability pursuant to the second protocol.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2021Publication date: May 18, 2023Applicant: VirtualZ Computing CorporationInventors: Jeanne M. Patent number: 10346849Abstract: In some embodiments, a method includes receiving an identification of an intended recipient of a physical package and a personalized message having content based on the identity of the intended recipient. The method further includes identifying a uniform resource locator (URL) comprising a reference to a webpage that displays the personalized message and one or more advertisements regarding products or services related to the physical package. A Quick Response (QR) code encoding the URL comprising the reference to the webpage that displays the personalized message and the one or more advertisements may be generated. The method further includes transmitting the personalized message and the one or more advertisements to the intended recipient via the webpage in response to the intended recipient accessing the URL encoded by the QR code.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2012Date of Patent: July 9, 2019Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventors: Stefan Ionescu, Steven L. Greenspan, Vincent R. Re, Wei-Jun Kong, Nagavardhan Sogal, Esin Kiris

Patent number: 8656056Abstract: According to one embodiment, a data sources interface of a mainframe receives a transaction request from a user terminal communicating through a network. The transaction request is formatted in a web-based format. A data sources function is called to instruct a mainframe application to perform the requested transaction, and the instruction to the mainframe is formatted in the native format of the mainframe. A transaction result formatted in the native format of the mainframe is received from the mainframe application. The transaction result is modified according to the web-based format to yield a data source, and the data source is sent to the user terminal.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 2010Date of Patent: February 18, 2014Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventors: Robert P. Bennett, Vincent R. Re
