  • Publication number: 20170325008
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and configurations for an apparatus for opportunistic measurements of a user's physiological context, such as evaporation rate. In one instance, an apparatus may include a chamber with a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The chamber may be disposed with the first side in proximity to or in contact with a surface (e.g., body of the user). The first side may include a first opening to allow evaporation from the surface to enter the chamber. The chamber may include a second opening to allow the evaporation to exit the chamber. The chamber may further include first and second sensors (e.g., humidity sensors) disposed inside the chamber, to detect the evaporation from the surface. The apparatus may be configured to measure the evaporation based on evaporation readings provided by the sensors. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Publication number: 20170164856
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and configurations for an apparatus for opportunistic measurements of a user's physiological context. In one instance, an apparatus may comprise a hand-held device, and include a surface that includes two or more electrodes disposed on the surface to contact with portions of the user's hands when the hands are in contact with the surface while the user holds the hand-held device, to obtain signals to be used to determine a physiological context of the user. The device may further include circuitry coupled with the two or more electrodes to identify at least two of the electrodes that are in contact with the user's respective portions of hands and, on identification, collect the signals to determine the physiological context using the identified electrodes while the contact between the portions of the hands and the identified electrodes is maintained. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Patent number: 9568432
Abstract: Apparatus and methods may provide for determining a value of chemical parameter. One or more light emitters may be positioned within a housing to emit light through an aperture of the housing. The emitted light may illuminate a color area of a structure that is separable from the housing, such as a test strip, a printed color reference, and so on. A color sensor may be positioned within the housing to capture reflected light and to convert the reflected light to an initial digitized color space that may be usable to determine a color shade of a color area. The reflected light may, for example, be captured independently at least of a dimension (e.g., predetermined size, shape, etc.) of the color area.

  • Publication number: 20160374577
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and configurations for an apparatus for providing a user's physiological context measurements. In one instance, the apparatus may include a physiological context measurement module including first and second electrodes, to obtain one or more parameters of physiological context of a user in response to a provision of contact of the first and second electrodes with a portion of the user's body while the physiological context measurement module is powered on; and a third electrode coupled with the module, which may be powered on in response to detection of contact between the user's body portion and the third electrode. The first, second, and third electrodes are disposed to facilitate simultaneous contact of the user's body portion with the electrodes, and collection of the one or more parameters of the physiological context while the simultaneous contact is maintained. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.
