Abstract: Device for protection of a needle (6) for a medical device (7), that can enclose the needle (6) in a first position (13) and leave the needle (6) free in a second position (14). The device includes a first part (1) and a second part (2) which are pivotally connected by a joint device (12). The first part (1) at a distance from said joint device (12) includes holding means (5) for retaining the medical device (7) pivotally about an axis that is essentially parallel with a joint axis of said joint device (12), so that the two parts (1,2) can be brought together to the first position (13) for enclosing the needle and can be separated from each other to the second position (14) where a retained needle (6) is pivotable to its free position (14). The invention also concerns a medical device.
