  • Patent number: 4699307
Abstract: A machine for driving glazier's and framer's points utilizes a push plate which is effective to drive the points at both of two levels. A ramp element is incorporated, which serves to deflect the points from an upper to a lower level as they are being driven forwardly into the workpiece, and edge features of the points employed impart a rotation or turning action thereto which deflects the tail portions downwardly to bear tightly upon the glass plate or other piece that is being mounted. Features of the points cooperate with elements of the magazine to ensure proper orientation, and the machine is effective and comfortable to use.

  • Patent number: 4674669
Abstract: A framer's tool consists of a handle member on which is provided an anvil portion for abutment with the outside surface of a picture frame. An actuating rod extends forwardly from the handle member, and is attached to an operating trigger pivotably mounted therewithin. A driving jaw adjustably mounted on the forward portion of the actuating rod, and has a magnetic component on its lower end for setting framer's points, brads and the like, positioning them with a rearward orientation to be squeezed by the tool into the inner surface of the frame component. The anvil portion on the handle member may have a pair of spaced resilient pads mounted upon it, which cooperate with a rib on the confronting surface of the jaw to bend, and thereby fracture, a prescored piece of glass squeezed therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4545515
Abstract: A machine for manually cutting glass, plastic and mat employs a head having a unique breaker assembly by which the break-out of scored plastic sheet is readily effected, and in which the pillar post for the cutting element is supported to provide a blade repositioning feature. The head also includes means for maintaining the cutting element in its extended position, particularly to enhance effectiveness for cutting fibrous or cellular mat, cardboard, and the like.

  • Patent number: 4342414
Abstract: The glazier holds the toe of the driver on the glass, adjacent the edge of the sash, such that a handle trigger can be operated to drive the lowermost point from the magazine into the sash by the action of a coiled compression spring. The magazine has an insert associated with it so that points of various size can be accommodated in a single point driver. Since larger points require a greater spring force, means is also provided for conveniently adjusting the compression springs displacement. The guide block and push plate assembly for driving the points into the sash are slidably supported in the frame so as to precisely engage only the lowermost point in the stack.

  • Patent number: 4083274
Abstract: Two versions are disclosed, and each includes a pillar post mounted for castering action in a head which moves relative to the glass sheet. In both versions the pillar post has a bifurcated lower portion, with a rectangular insert provided between the furcations and a glass cutting wheel mounted in the insert. In one version the insert has an upstanding stem releasably retained in a central bore defined in the pillar post, and in the second version the insert has a laterally projecting pin which is releasably retained in a side slot provided in one of the pillar post furcations. In both versions the insert projects beyond the bifurcated pillar post to facilitate removal thereof, and both versions are designed to permit assembly of the insert in its associated pillar post in only one orientation.

  • Patent number: 4009813
Abstract: A small anvil is provided below the score line and is resiliently connected to a manually manipulated head above the score line such that the user can push downwardly on the head in order to deflect the sheet material through a desired bend angle along the score line. The head is resiliently supported from a block slidably mounted on an underlying table. The same table also supports the anvil, and the support preferably comprises support rods which extend obliquely inwardly from outside the edge of the sheet so that the head is particularly useful in trimming segments of plastic sheet of less than a foot in longitudinal dimension.
