  • Publication number: 20050228362
Abstract: A male adaptor is provided with a nose for penetrating into a housing of the female connector. A septum is disposed over the nose of the male adaptor to maintain a seal with the female connector during coupling and uncoupling. Upon coupling, the septum dilates to allow the nose to pass through. The female connector may have a septum that also dilates to allow penetration of the nose of the male adaptor. Alternatively, the septum of the female connector may be retractable under the force of the nose of the male adaptor.

  • Patent number: 4949732
Abstract: A one-hand apparatus for insertion and fixation of an IUD which has a penetration member with a needle at the distal end for holding an attaching member of an IUD. The penetration member with the IUD are slidably received and positively locked within an insertion tube to prevent slidable movement of the needle during initial insertion to touching contact of the insertion tube with the fundus. Thereupon, the penetration member is released by thumb action of the user upon a lock/release member to allow penetration of the needle into the fundus by a predetermined distance to fix the IUD to the fundus.

  • Patent number: 4760847
Abstract: The depth measuring device employs a solid needle with a slidable rider as well as a transparent tube which is provided with a graduated scale and a closed bottom or marking lines. During penetration through the skin into a vascular implant device, the rider slides along the needle. When the needle is returned into the transparent tube and properly seated, with the end of the needle on the bottom or at the marking lines, the position of the rider can be read from the scale to indicate the depth of penetration of the needle. An appropriately sized right-angled Huber needle can then be selected for use with the implanted device.

  • Patent number: 4492258
Abstract: Sterile urine specimen collection is achieved by collecting the initial or forestream portion of a void in a chamber and then directing the midstream overflow into a specimen container in which the chamber is partially disposed. Overflow from the specimen container is drained to ambient or to an overflow container. This specimen container is selectively disengageable from the apparatus and can be sealed with a sterile cap which is secured to the apparatus in a sterile manner before it is deployed on the specimen container. Collection of the forestream and terminal portions of the void eliminates dripping from the unit when the specimen container is removed. When the terminal portion is drained to ambient, the drain tube is provided with a drip prevention structure. Void urine is received in a funnel having an oval entrance and a discharge spout which projects into the forestream chamber to a level above overflow holes defined in the chamber.
