  • Publication number: 20070274530
Abstract: An audio entertainment system (100) comprises: a set of earpieces (101) for transducing audio (102), with a first earpiece (103) having a first input means (104) for receiving input (113) to control (106) the transducing; and a first detector (107) for detecting the first earpiece (103) being positioned (108) for transducing audio (102). The audio entertainment system (100) is arranged to enable (109) control (106) with the first input means (104) only after a predetermined first period (110) in which the first earpiece (103) is detected, with the first detector (107), to be continuously positioned for transducing audio (102). This prevents accidental operation of e.g. a media player with the input means (104) while e.g. inserting the first earpiece (103).

  • Publication number: 20070252821
Abstract: A system and method for detecting at least two-finger input on a touch screen of a display such as computer, etc. includes a display screen; a sensing grid arranged for sensing touch on said display screen; a plurality of electrodes connected electrically to the sensing grid. A controller receives an output from the sensing grid, and a module identifies at least two points on the grid indicating locations of the display screen that have been touched by a user and identifies a geographic portion of the display screen to be identified based on said at least two points. As the position of the fingers are relative to the position of the screen via change in a direction of a Z-coordinate, a variable zoom can be provided by the sensing grid commensurate with different distances that the multiple fingers are sensed from the display screen.

  • Publication number: 20070043453
Abstract: A remote control that broadcasts signals over a broader directional path than it receives signals from. In operation, the remote control first is directed towards a particular device. In response to user input, the remote control device broadcasts a wakeup signal that solicits transmission of identifying signals from each device within a broadcast area The remote control device then awaits receipt of the identifying signal for the particular device. Since the remote control only receives signals over a relatively narrow directional path, the remote ontrol only will receiv tthe identification signal from the particular device that it is directed towards even though there may be more than one device in the broadcast area. After the identification signal of the particular device is received, the remote control may then transmit a control signal to the particular device. The control signal is at least partially determined from the received identifying signal.

  • Publication number: 20070036363
Abstract: An electric device (100) is suitable for use in first orientations (101) and in second orientations (102). The electric device (100) has a first function (103), a second function (104) and a user interface (105) with a first part (106) and a second part (107). In response to activating either of the parts (106), (107), one of the functions (103), (104) is performed by the electric device (100). To achieve a more consistent user interface (105), the mapping from part activated to function performed is adapted in dependence upon an orientation in use. The orientation in use is detected with a detector (108) comprising a gravity sensor (109). The gravity sensor (109) can contribute to distinguishing left from right and inside in from inside out.

  • Publication number: 20070036371
Abstract: In an indexation method, an average color or a statistical distribution of colors in an image is determined by providing a set of coordinates in a multidimensional color space (80). The set of coordinates of each color is reduced to a level of Hue if the color verifies a first condition, i.e. the color is considered a true color (81), and to a level of Brightness if the color verifies a second condition, i.e. the color is considered a gray color (82). Indexation data for indexing the image includes the level of Hue or Brightness resulting from each color. The indexation method is used in a search method for searching a collection of graphic elements. An input specifies a desired color. A corresponding search query pertains to a level of Hue or a level of Brightness if the desired color includes a true color, or a gray color respectively.

  • Publication number: 20060224259
Abstract: Creating a playlist of media items for a desired perceiving experience requires many actions for searching and selecting media items that fit the desired perceiving experience. The invention provides an alternative for creating a perceiving experience without the use of a playlist.

  • Publication number: 20060215847
Abstract: In a personal audio system (100), a remote controller (120) has a touch-sensitive area (122) and is worn in or by a human ear. A temporal pattern in the area (122), which is being touched, is detected and used for remotely controlling a device (110) for personal audio by means of a control signal (130). This prevents the hassle involved in finding, manipulating and operating a conventional remote control that is typically dangling somewhere along a wire.

  • Publication number: 20060218112
Abstract: The method of the invention enables a user to select an item, associates the item with at least a parameter indicating the geographical area where the item was selected, and presents a collection of items including the item dependent on whether a relation exists between the parameter indicating the geographical area where the item was selected and a parameter indicating the geographical area where the item is being presented. The computer program of the invention enables a programmable device to carry out the method of the invention. The electronic device of the invention is capable of carrying out the method of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20060005141
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for enabling a user to manipulate a user interface to make a selection from a first item and/or a collection comprising a second item, and the system comprises: generating means (116) conceived to generate a generated-collection that comprises the first item that belongs to the selection; and presentation means (108) conceived to present the user, through the user interface, an overview of the generated-collection and/or the collection that belongs to the selection.

  • Publication number: 20050277447
Abstract: A mobile hand held device (1) comprises IR motion detectors (8,9). The motion detection enables to detect whether the someone is present, and take an action, e.g. to adapt the timing of presenting events to this detected presence. The motion detection system comprises two preferably 180 degrees infrared motion detection elements (8,9) placed opposite to each other to detect together movement (preferably in 360 degrees) around the device. Preferably the IR detectors are placed at the top (6) and bottom (7) surface of the device. This configuration leavesroom for other sensors, such as touch sensors (10), on the side(s) (4,5) of the device.
