  • Patent number: 5266351
Abstract: Surface portions of metal materials, in particular artifacts which are of interest from historical, artistic or archeological perspectives, are protected from atmospheric agents and pollutants, and are re-aggregated, by reversibly applying a protecting and aggregating material comprising a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride having 55-85 mol % of vinylidene fluoride, 10-45 mol % of hexafluoropropene and 0-30 mol % of tetrafluoroethylene. Such polymers are applied onto the surface to be protected as solutions in volatile solvents.

  • Patent number: 5035924
Abstract: Method for the electroless metallizing of fibrous materials, consisting of coating such fibrous materials, before subjecting them to a chemical metallizing treatment, with a uniform film of a polymer which is capable of adhering to the fibrous material, is resistant to the chemical metallizing treatment, and is suitable for receiving metal coatings.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 1990
Date of Patent: July 30, 1991
    Assignee: Himont Italia S.r.l.

  • Patent number: 5028359
Abstract: A process for the consolidation of discrete, particulate, low-melting or liquid materials, characterized in that said materials are consolidated in their particulate discrete form by application of vapors of at least one p-xylylene monomer and/or of a derivative thereof, which is polymerized under vacuum. The materials are thus given the surface characteristics of a solid, with enhanced properties of mechanical, physical and/or chemical strength, even in the presence of high temperatures. The invention is particularly useful for the metered addition of predetermined amounts of compositions or for moving mechanical parts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 12, 1988
Date of Patent: July 2, 1991
    Assignee: Ausimont S.r.l.
    Inventors: Aldo Cicuta, Vincenzo Massa
  • Patent number: 5024879
Abstract: Process for consolidating solid materials and/or articles, which exhibit at least a low cohesion degree area associated with at least one structural discontinuity, debouching or opening into the surface and/or pervious from the surface of said material and/or article, with ports or openings having sizes equal to at least 0.01 micron, which process comprises:(a) introducing into said low-cohesion area associated with a structural discontinuity vapors of at least one p-xylylene monomer and/or a monomer derivative thereof, operating under vacuum, and(b) polymerizing said monomer vapors in situ inside said low-cohesion area associated with said structural discontinuity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 26, 1989
Date of Patent: June 18, 1991
    Assignee: Ausimont S.p.A.
Inventors: Vincenzo Massa, Aldo Cicuta, Walter Cavigiolo
  • Patent number: 4346127
Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing an absorbing mop material comprising a substratum of non-woven fibres and a flexible, porous, polymeric binder. The process comprises preparing a non-woven web of textile fibres, consisting essentially of a cellulosic material, preparing an aqueous dispersion containing a thermocoagulable polymer and a coagulating agent, adding to the aqueous dispersion a liquid expanding agent having a boiling point of 30.degree. C. to 80.degree. C., impregnating the web with the aqueous dispersion to which the expanding agent has been added, subjecting the impregnated web to a heat treatment at 40.degree. C. to 90.degree. C., washing the web with water, and subjecting the web to a further heat treatment at a temperature equal to or greater than 100.degree. C.
