  • Publication number: 20060229373
Abstract: The present invention relates to microporous materials (i.e., materials presenting high porosity, often referred to as aerogels) based on syndiotactic polystyrene and characterized by the presence of cavities with nanometric dimensions characteristic of the ? crystalline form and to processes for their preparation. These materials are capable of absorbing with fast kinetics volatile organic compounds from liquid or gaseous phases, also when such components are present at very low concentrations.

  • Publication number: 20020073764
Abstract: The use of the crystalline nanoporous form &dgr; of syndiotactic homopolymer or copolymers of styrene as sensing elements for detection of organic pollutants is disclosed as well as sensors using such polymers. The sensors so obtained are suitable for the detection in air or water of organic pollutants.
