  • Patent number: 11473859
Abstract: A method of sealing a coolant control valve of a cooling system for a power device which generates heat as a by-product of operation. The cooling system includes a pump, a heat exchanger, and coolant. The valve includes: an internal channel in fluid communication with the exchanger; a sealing package in contact a surface of the coolant control valve and bounding a portion of the cooling system and the channel; and a rotary element in the channel and rotatable to open and close the valve. The portion is bounded in part by the valve and the sealing package. The method includes: starting-up the device; creating a pressure differential of at least 0.2 bar between the coolant in the portion of the cooling system, and the coolant in the internal channel; rotating, using a motor, the rotary element; opening the valve; and pumping, using the pump, the coolant through the internal channel.

  • Publication number: 20170284563
Abstract: A coolant valve mounting arrangement is provided for a vibrating environment with significant temperature fluctuations. The mounting arrangement includes a fastener, a housing, a compression limiter and a mounting base. The compression limiter is arranged to minimize the housing thickness in order to reduce subsequent thermal expansion effects, while maintaining packaging, stiffness and strength requirements. A spring washer can be implemented to ensure that an adequate force is applied to the housing to maintain the integrity of a leak-free interface with the mounting base.

  • Patent number: 9587709
Abstract: An inverted tooth chain assembly configured to mesh with a sprocket is provided including a link with an improved shape for increased strength. The link includes two teeth, a pair of outer flanks, first and second inner flanks, and a crotch located between the first and second inner flanks. A first transition point is arranged between the first inner flank and a first end region of the crotch, and a second transition point is arranged between the second inner flank and a second end region of the crotch. A crotch surface is defined between the first transition point and the second transition point and has a profile with a varying radius of curvature. The profile of the crotch surface has a smaller radius of curvature at the first and second end regions and a larger radius of curvature at a medial region between the first and second end regions.
